During the Pleistocene & as recently as ~12,000 years ago, North America was home to the American Cheetah, genus Miracinonyx.

Let's talk about them & how their lasting legacy might be the exceptional speed of the pronghorn antelope.

As I have noted before, almost half of everyone ever born died in childhood. There are people alive today who were already alive when this stopped being true for everyone born in the future.

All of pre-20th-century history is an emotional foreign country, for this reason alone.
Currently dorking out over this graph about child mortality with my brother. Just mind boggling to take in.

Guess what? There’s a medication for dementia that is:
- administered by IV
- has “difficulty walking” as a common side effect
- requires frequent MRIs to make sure it isn’t causing fatal brain bleeds

Bonus weirdness
- is made by Eli Lilly whose rep fainted while Trump froze up

Not only that, but I assure you, there's been multiple instances of active duty personnel losing their shit, requiring senior enlisted to calm them down and coax them back from the brink of going AWOL, because one or more family members have been taken by ICE.

You won't hear about it on the news,

Ho ho ho, indeed.

Now I said 50% will go AWOL.

What about the rest?

The Pentagon has studied this problem repeatedly over the years. They do a fresh run every

If enough of them leave at once, some of them are going to pay a visit to the armory before they leave.

They probably won't be able to take things like Stinger, LAW or TOW missiles, or heavy vehicles or tanks, but small arms and ammunition will definitely go missing.

So now you have trained

No statement.

No warning.

They just flat out get in their car and leave.

I'm not talking about some kind of protest, where they all come

LONG RAMBLING EMOTIONAL THREAD:

It's World AIDS Day. Since the Administration has decided to keep it quiet, I'd like to share my introduction to AIDS.

I grew up in Seattle. My mom remarried a man who had a brother who was a King County Sheriff's Deputy. His name was Terry and he was gay. 1/x

When no one wanted to know about AIDS, when the government didn't care about the death of so many gay men, when everyone wanted to look away, this was the energy Elizabeth Taylor brought for real. She *meant* it. It's a beautiful thing, this energy.

It is not a stretch at this point to say that, if you are using a Ring doorbell, you are an ICE collaborator.

Amazon readily provides data to LEOs and ICE.

Don't want to be an ICE collaborator? Then don't use Ring.
remember that your ring doorbell starts using face recognition on every face it sees today :)

In sociology, a recurring methodological problem encountered by those trying to study the very rich is that their domains of existence are so far removed from the experiences of ordinary people that the researchers, before they even start, have to fundamentally reshape their social ontologies
When we talk about "taxing rich people" there's folks who think we're talking about Aunt Edna who has the second summer home. The astronomical levels of "rich" that now exist are almost unfathomable to people. It's the stuff of vast empirical dynasties. We're talking about taxing emperors.
