I've moved house twice and misplaced my button collection since I started this Tìoraidh Cardigan from #KateDavies Allover collection.

New buttons were finally sewn on this morning, so I declare it finished! (I washed and blocked it the other week when I added the afterthought pockets).

We don't have warehouses of surplus stock.

Heavy discounting isn't priced into our knitwear. We don't do Black Friday.

We DO appreciate every purchase that you make with Nielanell.

When people like Lucy White thunder the explicit racism of "there should not be a single person born in Pakistan in the UK House of Commons", ask them whether Boris Johnson, who was born in America, should have been permitted to be the Mayor of London, an MP, and the PM.

Can I wish all those across the border a very happy Lancashire Day. It marks the day in 1295 when Lancashire first sent representatives to Edward I’s Model Parliament — a moment often taken as the county’s earliest voice in national affairs. It was first celebrated in 1996.

Happy #LancashireDay, apparently the most underrated county in the UK. And where I live now, just.

A new book How to Kill a Witch brings a dark period of history back to grisly life – and an official tartan is being released to memorialise some of those who were tortured and killed.

So much enshittification that it's now hit knitting and crochet patterns.

Check everything you can before buying online. AI is just a probabilistic parrot not a skilled designer with a team of editors and testers.

Current climate wants you to think you have none.

I tell you that you have more agency than you think.

I didn't watch last night's #GameofWool because we were out at a Skerryvore gig, which was excellent.

And as I've only been watching because it's car-crash telly and I can't believe how awful it is, I've read all the comments on here and don't need to endure the programme itself now

Fascinating history, brilliant photography.
Ootlier 6 is published today. Issue 6 explores the legacy of military remains at Rubha nan Sasan ("the point of difficulty") where a hastily-constructed coastal defence battery at Loch Ewe was abandoned 80 years ago.

I really don't think "change needle to change sizes" is best practice for grading. You're asking the knitter to potentially compromise the quality of the fabric by knitting too loose and/or create issues with it by working it too tight. It is 100% possible to grade colourwork mitts & socks. 🧶

Lots of interesting and completely factual discussion in this thread
Serious question (yes, it can happen):

We all know that a sponge on a stick was used by the Romans for wiping their bums, right? Well, what's the evidence? Seems very impractical to us.

Does anyone know?
