Thank you for sharing. Truth is often stranger than fiction. In 2002, a real fossilised skeleton of a plesiosaur, or "sea dragon," was discovered near Filey, which experts said was a "once in a lifetime" find, further fuelling the dragon myth.
πŸ‰ Our mythological creature of the day is the Filey Dragon.

This sea dragon was said to sink ships off Filey, Yorkshire.

But the locals discovered it had a sweet tooth for parkin, fed it to much causing the creature to die. It then turned into Filey Brigg!

I always respect the way an artist can sum up everything that’s going on in one photo.
Stocking filler? That would be the main and most precious pressie round here.

Now that's a clever idea.

And you could do something similar by making a really, really long pointy hat with a few big eyelets in the brim.
Of course the parkin is now wrapped up for a few days to get darker and stickier for next weekend.
Looks like a good recipe, but I made my parkin this evening, it went in the oven a few minutes ago and should start smelling amazing in about half an hour, just when we've finished the cheese, onion and potato pie I'm about to cut into!
It's always a bit worrying, isn't it. I came across something similar recently, and it made me reassess all their articles which I'd taken at face value before.
Surtsey? Yes, they're studying the development of plants and birds settling there, and they really don't need a paedo prince spoiling its pristine vulcanism.
I can't find it where it should be, or anywhere else for that matter. So I've bought another copy, which means it's almost certainly about to turn up.

(Not a problem, I know several people I can give the spare copy to).
None of the Orkney islands are that deserted. He'd be better off on something small and volcanic off the Azores.
@lilithepunk.bsky.social Coming up to Soul Cake time, and I can't find my copy of Everyday Lore. Must look harder...

It seems very sad to me that Baltic Studies is a field that barely exists in the UK. There are language courses run by SSEES (and its two Baltic professorships) and Glasgow's Baltic Research Unit (focussed on international relations and modern history), but that's about it
I saw. But doing lovely wood work too!

Give Blaze a scritch from me.

This is the point that the Windsors seem to keep missing. Not only are the details of just how far they were willing to go to protect an abuser but it also stands in stark contrast to their behaviour towards the first woman of colour to join the family. We see you, you racist pedo protectors.

Can we just appreciate how stunning young Ursula K Le Guin was
Phew - I've just seen today's post then whizzed back to see when you started posting again. I was worried about you all.

So glad you're all back.
