Organizing *is* the work. Building community and practicing care skills are foundational to absolutely everything else, but they’re also how we change the paradigm away from authoritarianism and give people the tools to maintain democratic social structures.
Sometimes when I talk to folks here I feel like people think “organizing” is a great charismatic leader rising from the left and telling everyone what to do and then creating a mass march in the streets that is a cathartic outpouring of emotion (but accomplishes nothing).

No.

How many reactionary centrists painted blatant racism as "economic anxiety." The media whitewashed all of this for a decade. The greatest sin in their eyes was calling MAGA racist.

It wasn't about economic anxiety just as much as targeting trans people isn't about concerns for women's rights.

It would be really nice if there was a presidential candidate who framed a post-fascism society in America as involving something like constitutional amendments and maybe even a cultural revolution instead of just their election to the office of President being the solution

Hey, remember that time I said that pointing out that AI is giving bad data to ICE is missing the point because ICE doesn't actually care if the data is good? Check out how right I am.
NEW: Records reviewed by WIRED show DHS’s facial recognition app (Mobile Fortify) isn’t designed to actually "verify" identity—despite DHS claims and its agents relying on its matches to support probable cause in the field.
ICE and CBP’s Face-Recognition App Can’t Actually Verify Who People Are
ICE has used Mobile Fortify to identify immigrants and citizens alike over 100,000 times, by one estimate. It wasn't built to work like that—and only got approved after DHS abandoned its own privacy r...

I forget who first coined it but “the revolt of the bosses” sums it up perfectly

the power that labor held in the remote work era was existentially terrifying to them and every move they have made since has been designed to crush it and instill fear across the workforce

“The fact that it’s unlikely to work doesn’t make it any less miserable to have to live through it while they try” is, I’m confident, going to be the theme of 2026-2028.
To be clear: I think the regime's plan to steal the election is doomed to fail. I don't think they're going to pull it off. We can win by voting in huge numbers and mass civil resistance against their crimes.

But, we're much more likely to succeed if we are prepared for their attempt.

there will be no functional clinical facilities, and barebones staffing means that medical checks will be few and far between. medications will not be dispensed properly. disease will spread unchecked. there will be no place for people to meet with their lawyers. there will be no phone calls.

theyre not ICE prisons theyre warehouse with cages inside. the layout and design will maximize how many people they can hold inside locked fences. there will be no movement, activities, programming, or congregate time for the incarcerated. Heating, cooling, and humidity control will be insufficient

One Department of Homeland Security document says a 29-year-old resident of Portland "is the leader of Antifa":

A key thing to remember when seeing that measles is in the concentration camps, is that covid killed more cops than any other cause.

Cops are superspreaders, a gestapo jumping around the country to terrorize one city after another, kidnapping people into concentration camps, is a perfect storm.

Which isn’t to say there are no conspiracies but

If he does this, and isn't impeached and removed, it's a Rubicon moment where we are no longer a republic. Sorry, I don't care how much Republicans like his policies or fear his wrath, you can't just let a president cut checks to himself from the Treasury.
Trump on his multiple suits against the federal government: "I'm supposed to work out a settlement with myself ... We could make it a substantial amount, nobody would care, because it's gonna go to numerous, very good charities."

So an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume
An unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume angrily confronted Santa Clara city officials during a joint meeting of the City Council, city authorities, and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority on Monday, using his public comment to condemn the city’s stance on cooperation with ICE.

Epstein is the most garish and harrowing manifestation of this but oligarchy makes life miserable in a thousand other ways. A core point of democracy is that no one should have so much power that they can make themselves everybody's problem. We should have a political party that believes that
The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll
