Can we get to the “leaves town” part of that arc already? C’mon Andy.

Also, read his book Just Mercy!
I highly recommend the audio book read by the author!
If you read one thing today, make it this piece by @nytimes.com's Kurt Streeter about the extraordinary Bryan Stevenson. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/08/u...

I'm so personally upset about this. I did my Master's internship there (can recommend), and my number one entry for non law people for why the SCC is fun and interesting is the Santa outfits.

This is a great loss for the whimsy of our country!

what ezra doesn't seem willing to accept is that charlie kirk was part of a political movement that does not think that "we are going to have to live here with each other" and is fact very interested in the elimination and/or subjugation of many, many people
"All I can say for me in the work I do is that I want to create a space that takes our disagreements seriously, that takes the stakes of them seriously, the consequences for people seriously, but does so without deepening our divisions irreparably. We are going to have to live here with each other"

I am so fucking tired I am so fucking tired I am so fucking tired. It's like fighting smoke. You're trying to beat it back but all you're doing is breathing it in

You point out a true thing and people get upset: they want to know why you'd attack what's convenient in favor of what's real
This is completely unsourced and yet spreading like wildfire: we do not know if Robinson was a Groyper we do not know anything for sure except that he was Very Online

“Kirk & I were on different sides of most political arguments. We were on the same side of the continued possibility of American politics.”

So it’s personal? B/c if you were a Black woman or transgender, Kirk would not imagine you having any role in the future of American politics.

It's just a passport & visa ban.

A major consequence of chronically defunding social sciences is that people have no knowledge of what propaganda is, what it looks like and how it works.

Your doctor shouldn't be a business 😳
Scarborough loses patience with Mike Lawler after Lawler lies that Republicans didn't actually cut Medicaid: "Congressman, you can keep talking if you want to, but are you saying you know doctors' business, you know hospital administrators' business better than they know their own business?"

In library school, we spent entire lectures discussing the most successful ways to justify your existence to your funding organization or board. It's bleak out there for librarians
Eleven more libraries will reopen on Sundays, thanks to the leadership of the City Council. They never should've been closed in the first place.

As Mayor, I'll end this absurd budget dance that keeps our beloved libraries in limbo year after year.
11 more NYC libraries will soon open on Sundays
A $2 million City Council deal will expand seven-day service to more than 30 branches citywide.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

This absolutely wrecked me. Bigots poison our world and steal beautiful souls like Jonathan Joss from his husband. The strongest of warnings about reading the statement, it will damage you. But homophobia literally kills people. That's what straight people who don't get it yet need to understand.

Ms. Rachel had the same arc as Ta Nehisi Coates where learning the basic facts of the situation made her go “this is unambiguously wrong” and it freaks out the credentialists who think serious people are supposed to say it’s complicated

Why can't you use chatgpt like Google? See below.

LLMs are not fact-checking, and I am begging people to stop pretending like they can be used that way.
This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

I am once again begging people to realize that the law is words on paper and is not self executing.

"That's illegal" is not and has never been synonymous with "that's impossible" or "that can't be done."

"That's illegal" means "you might get in trouble for that depending on who you are."

If you think that deserving human rights is contingent on whether someone has committed a crime or not, then you do not believe in human rights

Criminals are human and therefore have rights. This should not be up for debate

Since when do segments get cancelled due to “pushback”on factual content? 4 yrs after 140 newsrooms signed a collective letter against the harassment of their most vulnerable journalists that was ironically propelled by Rachel,me & Erica Ifill. What chilling message is being sent to journalists?
I’m devastated, but I’m also angry. I’m angry because this is an attack on press freedom.

If opportunities can be stripped from journalists simply because enough people repeat the same bad-faith narrative, how can anyone withstand the career impact of doing work that matters?

An independent judiciary and an independent legal profession are a cornerstone of democracy.
Trump issued an official memorandum on Friday night ordering AG Bondi to “sanction” attorneys who sue or oppose the positions of the federal government. As an attorney I must say no threat, even jail or death will override my oath to protect our constitution.
