The American cities Trump has vowed to invade one by one produce 90% of this country's GDP. We must withhold these funds, and our infrastructure, from the United States Government, until these invasions stop

OMG I think they turned this person into a living LLM to benefit the ppl around him, I cannot think of a more clearcut way to demonstrate how ppl treat those with neurodivergences and disabilities - all responses designed to make others feel more comfortable. The stuff of sci fi dystopias.

I am straight-up going to have nightmares about this
In the video Smith posted online, he said Neuralink engineers had started using language models including ChatGPT and Grok to serve up a selection of relevant replies to questions, as well as options for things he could say in conversations going on around him. One example that he outlined: “My friend asked me for ideas for his girlfriend who loves horses. I chose the option that told him in my voice to get her a bouquet of carrots. What a creative and funny idea.”

These aren’t really his thoughts, but they will do—since brain-clicking once in a menu of choices is much faster than typing out a complete answer, which can take minutes.

Genuinely the most dystopian thing I've ever read that isn't fiction

If Brad Smith is choosing this, that's fine: not the choice I'd make but then again I'm able to communicate so maybe I'd feel differently if I had his limitations

Given Musk's history of lying, I'm very concerned that Brad Smith is not making any choices at all

Hi hello did you know that Elon Musk's third Neuralink patient (previously nonverbal) is "getting help from Grok" to communicate

and I hope -- I REALLY HOPE -- he's not stuck in his own brain listening as a robot talks for him without his input because this, to me, would be worse than death
This patient’s Neuralink brain implant gets a boost from generative AI
A patient who types with his brain thanks to a Neuralink implant is using AI chatbots to speed things up.

OMG this is such a good point. It's a shredding outlook to have whether it's true or false

The amount of grief, information overload and unease we are all experiencing in cycle after cycle is affecting us all in different ways.

Fascism is incredibly cognitively invasive and manifests in waves through our lives.

We must learn to treat ourselves with grace as the noise increases.

This year, I've had so many productivity issues. Whole days lost, deadlines completely blown I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with me

Yeah, so for the last 48 hours I decided to tune out the news and concentrate on an article and surprise surprise: it was the fascism this whole time
laurajedeed.bsky.social
If you're also having trouble with productivity this year, solidarity and let's be less hard on ourselves together
laurajedeed.bsky.social
Don't worry I'm not tuning out the news permanently that would be very dangerous and very stupid. But I'm also going to take short breaks, and I'm going to be a lot less hard on myself for not being super functional right now

in 2011, the president of antifa hired me to give fashion consultancy to the organization. i recommended everyone wear navy suits with tan shoes, dress sneakers, and golf polos with slim chinos. if you arrested everyone today wearing these things, you'd destroy antifa

Hey if you want to keep track of what's happening in Chicago right now this is a really good account to follow
unraveledpress.com
Happening now: we're at the Broadview ICE facility outside Chicago.

CCSO + Broadview police are telling protesters + press they can't stand on the west side of 25th Street for any reason.

We asked what the precise public safety issue is. They just said they're anticipating cars coming through.

No joke at the work function with older conservatives I got to bring this up and even got one of them to chime in and he called it propaganda to say the whole city is ravaged and I was floored. It really does help to have completely non threatening evidence to the contrary of their claim

This video is everywhere because it's a hilarious visual refutation of Portland being on fire. You can't get a mass movement going without convincing the masses

so yes, this does do something actually

This literally does nothing. You are not beating fascism by dressing up in inflatable suits and dancing

Portland is leading the way. This is how you (non violently) beat Fascism. Humor and ridicule are key.

This is so important. Like, it's completely unreasonable to expect someone who's never been to a protest to move immediately to civil disobedience. You get people used to going out, you make sure the events are fun and build community, and you let them see for themselves that more is needed

Right now, we are at Phase 1 of a mass movement. This means building strength, winning hearts and minds, and making room for people that have never been active to wander in and participate.

The optics matter! Friendly protests are good!
