Excellent guide to the whys and hows of alt text
Alt text is extra information you add when you upload an image in order to describe what the image is/provide extra context! It's how blind people can tell what's in the image, for instance: screen reading programs can read the *text* out loud, but they can't access pictures.

It’s #Caturday so indulge me… An intro post to my babies. Born in March, among 9 kittens from 2 mums, in my friend’s garden. Being allergic, he setup a safe nest outside & fed them as much as possible. I first met them at 4 weeks old. I meant to adopt 1 or MAYBE 2.

Yesterday in our Intro to Judaism class I told the story behind Kristallnacht

- that on October 27, 1938, the Nazis rescinded legal status for 12,000 ostjuden (Eastern Jews) and deported them by train to Poland. Poland did not admit them, and they were trapped at the border for weeks. /1

The entire right wing relies on the British public not understanding:

1) Tax brackets
2) Inheritance tax
3) Inflation

And it works. Every time.

My standalone Arthurian novel, The Cleaving, is a frankly incredible 73p in ebook this week from Amazon. I explore this familiar story from the perspective of the women involved. It's a chance to try my work without committing to a series. Offer ends Sunday 8th Feb

My apologies to everyone who has heard this story before.

Back in the 1970s, two things were true about UWaterloo:

* UW never, ever closed.
* Many faculty members owned farms.

Cue the Great Storm of 1978.

I think at this point the UK has accepted Paddington as the Death Bear, collector of souls. So, I think as a nation we should start smearing marmalade on the eyes of the dead and whisper “fare for the crossing”. It’ll feel weird now but, in three of four generations, no one will question it.

A few days ago, I stood in the graveyard of an 1100 year old church, getting damper and damper in the drizzling rain.

A woman walked into the graveyard, waved, said hello, and, as we had previously arranged, handed me a paper bag full of human bones.

The life of a churchwarden is a strange one...

This is part of my travel anxiety, although at least when I've been on the wrong vehicle it's been my fault, not inadvertent kidnap.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

Okay, here's the story of George de Hevesy vs the Nazis! I really do love telling this story.

First, some background: George de Hevesy was a Hungarian-Jewish chemist, but he spent most of his career post-1920 attached to the Niels Bohr institute at the University of Copenhagen, in Denmark. (1/n)

On the crafting executive dysfunction front - I've moved my crochet from the pile next to me onto my lap, and opened the notebook with the pattern.

Then scrolled BSky for several minutes

Now I need a drink, but if I move the stuff off my lap, I might not get round to picking it up again.

Thinking a lot about the international student in my senior thesis class who was absolutely terrified of police here in the US (doubly so of ICE) because they seemed just as corrupt if not worse than the corrupt police in her home country and the militarization of our own was plain as day to her.

Just discussed this with my nesting partner, both of us have piles of half-started projects, and cannot find the function to just pick them up. Both of us have spent decades presuming this is normal, and being told by MH professionals that it's just depression/anxiety.
It's in a pillowcase to protect it, but getting it out feels like climbing Everest, so I simply don't do it

*I thought this was normal*
