Tron is such an 80s thing, it's hard to make relevant for the 21st century. It's all about arcade games and mainframes, and software that was written primarily by a single coder. The actual story of Tron is silly AF, which is one of its main joys.

But it should never have been revived.

We're in a pressure cooker, and since we can't reach out and touch the people responsible, some are lashing out at those around them just because they are in range.

It doesn't excuse it but it's the only way I can make sense of it. And yes, it absolutely sucks.

I'm perplexed at watching pundits in the trades struggling to explain Tron Ares' disappointing opening.

Was it covid? Do people just not like science fiction? etc. etc.

The main reason is pretty obvious: Tron isn't a popular franchise. Nobody's interested in nostalgia for a failed 1980s project.

Its not just a BlueSky sucks now thing either. I truly think some ppl are legitimately miserable and are only satisfied if everyone is miserable with them. Its not about informing or understanding or teaching or pointing out whats wrong when it needs to be — some folks are just straight up miserable

Young black gang members are not talked about as much as they used to be.

Most of that is because in the early 2000s the Bloods and the Crips in particular would get together at a local venue, have a nice breakfast, then discuss their beefs.
