I've written a few books, and I like to rant about gender and hyperlocal Minneapolis politics. Thorn in the side of the DFL: abetterdfl.org. Cat Dad. They/them.

it's systemic versus individual thinking, which is why we get weirdos who think cursing out trans people online for being mad about stuff is "activism"
People who claim this always want the issue of Trump to be a bunch of individual failures instead of a systemic failure on the part of Democrats and our democracy to put roadblocks in front of autocrats like Trump.

So why, then, should we play into their hands by prioritizing "party unity" over any and all criticism? Why should we care at all because no matter what the hell we do, that's what they're gonna say?
Sure. Because how did we get here again? Do you know what EVERY republican says about Harris? "I didn't like that she didn't have a fair democratic process to make her the nominee"

The enemy doesn't care. They will use everything we say in bad faith as propaganda to convince other people.

i'm tired of this.

"this is how we got trump" doesn't fucking matter anymore because we have him now and the Dems in the Senate are doing fuckall.

the question is what are we doing NOW not scolding about some future election (like come on).
And this is how we get Trump. Do. Not. Split. Even when you're furious. Especially when we're furious. Understand the gravity of the moment. We're not supporting him. We're supporting the fight against masked agents pulling people off of the street and children starving to death.
I'll get back to "party unity" as soon as the Senate Minority Leader tells us if he voted for the Democratic party nominee for mayor of his city.

I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

can someone get Lydia to do this because her signs are still EVERYWHERE.
If your candidate or candidates aren’t picking up their signs or accepting drop offs, you can sign up to have LWV volunteers pick them up for recycling.

this sounds like he went to a thesaurus to find "smart" words for his "critique"
late to this but i feel like an underrated part of the musk meltdown over joyce carol oates accusing him of not reading is this musk reply that makes it clear he has never read anything by joyce carol oates

If you want to do this in Minnesota specifically for your LGBTQ+ siblings, might I recommend ABetterDFL.org in this trying time?

Wait do I have it correct that Joyce Carol Oates said Musk was a shell of a man with no joy in his life and he totally saw it and said "No I'm not" and now he's searching the titles of different movies he likes and replying "great movie"

i told my friend i'm going to rent an AirBnB for my 40th birthday and host a murder mystery party but i might just get them in, lock the doors, and go "surprise mother fuckers we're watching Sinners."

i found this out YESTERDAY and i'm boggled
I remember it blowing my mind when I learned that Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which sounds for all the world like a baleful 19th-century shanty at least tonally and lyrically, was about something that happened the year before

i learned last week that @jimmyhoke.com thought "landslide" was originally by The Chicks so I just sent them a 500 word email so they could have full appreciation when watching the Silver Springs 1997 live performance

oh fuck everything my costs are nearly doubling which means if our COLA is anything under 3%, I will actually be making less money next year than I did this year. 3% is status quo.
it's open enrollment time which is the reminder that this system of having your health care tied to your employer fucking sucks

i might have to switch docs because i can't tell if my current doc takes our new insurance? I hate everything.

4. Second most: prairie smoke
5. Most overrated: there is no perennial blossom that’s overrated, flowers are a miracle
6. No THC beverage company currently in Minnesota has consistent THC in their products

This involved a LOT more than just the folks showing hands - Schumer and Durbin HAVE to go. You cant consign millions to suffering and death, in exchange for nothing, and get to keep going.

@markey.senate.gov @warren.senate.gov if you arent pushing them out, you're working with them. #mapoli
The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Just something I keep my eye on as Stonewall DFL Chair.

you just stopped fighting though????
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

Tina Smith should be the first to call for replacing Schumer since she's already not running again. And if she's not up to the task of breaking senatorial congeniality for the greater good then she should resign and allow Walz to appoint someone who can actually fight for the next year.
