OK, let’s see if I can keep this thread up this time - #BooksOf2025 begins with WHAT DOESN’T BREAK by Cassandra Khaw.

This Critical Role novel may need a lot of context, but as a longtime CR fan and a massive Laudna fan, I deeply enjoyed it - even when it made me sad. Fantastic choice of author.
I thought it looked familiar! 😄

This fall has been an extra slow one for small businesses out here, and the tea house is $3.7k shy of where we need to be to make rent before late fees hit this month.

All this to say, if you have some tea shopping to do or friends to point our way today, we'd sure appreciate it!

time to step away from the starbucks drinks, y’all. do not cross the picket line.

unions are how we fight back. corporate monopolies are heavily consolidated right now. it’s a large part of why prices are high and wages are low.
BREAKING: Starbucks workers have just authorized a massive strike.

Union Starbucks baristas voted to authorize the strike by 92%.

Now baristas in over 25 cities could launch an unfair labor practice strike on Thursday, November 13th.

What if we just decided collectively not to use the dislike button?

Like what if we just liked the things we liked, and scrolled past or muted the things we didn’t like, the way we do now? If no one feeds the algorithm it won’t work, right?
What is this, Bluesky? I am here for the lack of algorithm! It had better not apply to my “following” feed.
“As users ‘dislike’ posts, the system will learn what sort of content they want to see less of. This will help to inform more than just how content is ranked in feeds, but also reply rankings.”

It’s still remarkable that Disney produced - and released - this segment in 1940. A horror short that should rank with its Universal monster movie contemporaries… The animation is lush and experimental, and really shows off the Disney special animated effects team…
