I read Moby Dick in 11th grade and thought it was horribly tedious (not nearly as exciting as the condensed version I read as a kid!) I’ve been thinking about rereading it for YEARS and I think this may be the time to do it.

This got me wondering if the Hindi/Sanskrit -pur is the same root (Jaipur, Raipur, Kanpur etc.)
And it is! -pur is fort/stronghold, and thought to be derived from the same PIE root as -buri and -bury.

Honestly I think they are so far removed from regular people they don’t realize the disaster they have created. They think it’s a small number who will be affected (which still wouldn’t make it right.) They think it’s an exaggeration that people will die.
They live in an alternate reality.

The fig I picked off the fig tree (bush) yesterday. I don’t think this is really their zone so it takes forever for them to show up and ripen. This one is SO CLOSE to being ripe!! There’s maybe 2 dozen others that are still hard and probably won’t make it. Maybe next year.

I actually wrote 1k words on WIP tonight, so inspiration didn’t take too long. 😜 So productive today! Yard work! Laundry! Homemade chicken stew and dumplings! Writing!

Planted mums, mulched two flowerbeds, trimmed a bush, hung the bird feeder, put up a scarecrow. All my outdoor work today earned me…a small tick attached to my neck.
WORST REWARD EVER.
At least I will have the warmest comfiest cleanest duvet to sleep under tonight, which was my other chore. 😬

Last weekend and the past week were extremely busy, so today is when I get to catch up on things. On the list: wash winter-weight duvets for bed deployment, winterize the pop-up camper, mulch the front flowerbed, put up bird feeder, make chicken broth, put away Halloween decor.
