A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

The camera got hit by lava, I think, just a minute ago while we were watching. I'm not sure if it's functional anymore.
Oh wow... Kilauea volcano in Hawaii is erupting with enthusiasm RIGHT NOW, and you can watch it on the USGS livestream here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bqmp...

Look, we're just going to have Thanos about 36% of the population.
*More than half of the GOP believe the 2020 election outcome was the result of fraud
*More than 4 out of 10 believe 9/11 was an inside job
*37% believe the Holocaust did not happen or was exaggerate
*36% believe NASA faked the moon landing

The monthly hand bandage (kisunla), the MRI, the oval office sign, the rambling. The President has Alzheimer's.

But rich people are getting what they want, so I guess we're going to pretend he doesn't.

Donald Trump just removed Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the list of free entry days at national parks.

They are being replaced with Trump’s birthday.

Laws aren't real. They exist solely on account of buy-in from society's participants. Once one side disengages, you no longer reside in a society based on laws. You live in a society based on power and armed force. I am begging folks to accept this so we can get moving.
Just legal Calvinball. Obviously lawless.

MIKE JOHNSON: More. More. And I have to, because President Trump works 21 hours a day.

He is assuming, as am I, that Trump will pardon him.
What sticks out to me is how absolutely unafraid of prosecution this psychopath is. Part of it is narcissistic personality disorder, but it's mostly the perceived weakness of Democrats. Should they retake power, no one expects Democrats to hold anyone accountable.

And the NYT assists by using the word "many" instead of the more accurate "most" in the headline.
This was never about targeting violent criminals. This was always a wind up to the full attack on Black, Brown and Muslim immigrants we’ve seen burst wide open this week. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
ICE Arrest Data Shows Many Immigrants With No Criminal Record
In high-profile operations, more than half of those arrested had no criminal record, an analysis shows.

This is an insane paragraph.

This is at the very least, literally, not "indisputable". The lower-court ruling you're overturning said otherwise, and there's written, public evidence the DOJ said do this for racial reasons!

"Indisputable" just means "I don't care to deal with contrary evidence."
Alito's (brief) concurrence says the "impetus" for the Texas map was "partisan."

This is a response to the lower court that struck down the map, saying there's evidence of racial impetus. A big evidence was that the DOJ wrote to Texas explicitly saying they should redistrict for racial reasons.

One note about the Texas stay order:

Although SCOTUS granted the stay, it did not go ahead & note probable jurisdiction (i.e., agree to hear the case on the merits). While it is all but certain the court will take the case, there will first be another round of briefing. #txlege

The Supreme Court just handed Texas Republicans at least 2 more House seats & possibly up to 5 despite the state GOP explicitly justifying their remap based on an unconstitutional use of race in redistricting.

Unsurprising from this court, and it's a bad sign for the upcoming Voting Rights Act case
BREAKING: Supreme Court sides with Texas Republicans in fight over congressional map. The new gerrymandered map will be used in the 2026 midterms. The vote is 6–3, with the Republican appointees siding with Texas.
