Probably the single best example I can think of of business type weather vanes switching against Trump.
Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

Extraordinary WSJ reporting today that unveils the extent to which Trump, Witkoff, Kushner and US business executives are salivating over business deals with Russia while Putin’s forces kidnap Ukranian children and bomb civilians in their apartments.

As of today, the next big general election (after the #TN07 special on Tuesday) is the Wisconsin State Supreme Court race in April, and Rs are already freaking out.

A win for liberal judge @christaylorwi.bsky.social (follow her NOW) would make the court 5-2 blue.

The next big battleground test: A Wisconsin race that has tortured Republicans
Republicans and Democrats have each poured tens of millions into the state's recent Supreme Court races — and the GOP has gotten crushed.

I'd like to second most of whats in this thread and also note that I came across a fair amount this semester of students just straight up not understanding/following pretty basic instructions seemingly out of a sheer inability to give a damn enough to even look at them.
This is not a "students today" post--it's more "this is a new form of dysfunction" that doesn't look exactly like it's been in previous decades. It's more than just "first-year chaos." It's an across-the-board inability to process instructions, engage with longer texts, and *connect* with others.

Demolishing the East Wing of the White House before finalizing plans for what will be built above its ruins is a near-perfect metaphor for Trump's approach to economic policy. The only difference is the wrecking crew doesn’t claim the rubble is evidence of unprecedented growth.

It's probably a combination of the assassination attempt, exhaustion, dementia, and stroke recovery, but the point stands. A key element of Trump's support was the fact that he went and talked to his cult. He doesn't do that anymore.
The fact that Trump is having to do a tele-rally for TN-07 is IMO, telling.

First Term Trump would have spent the next few weeks in Franklin or Clarksville so he can bask in the adulation of his followers.

James Buchanan blew up the Union in defense of slavery and then let his own Secretary of War assist in the lame duck preparations for treason, and Andrew Johnson was a drunken white supremacist who effectively revolted against Congress, and still neither of them were ever so nakedly lawless.
This is the most corrupt, lawless administration in the history of the United States and there’s no close second.

Why did a random backbencher who has no bank accounts in his name wind up as Speaker of the House?

The answer to that question is finna get properly fascinating before too long.
The baseline structure of the US constitution can survive many things. What it cannot survive is the speaker of the house being an omega male who is completely submissive to the president and willing to surrender all of his power. Mike Johnson is genuinely groundbreaking in this regard.

Two things we learned today:

1. Pete Hegseth murdered *suspected* drug runners.

2. Donald Trump pardoned a *convicted* drug trafficker.

That’s where we are, folks.

bulldoze connection to the rest of the building and throw gasoline inside, call it a day
If they ever get around to building this thing, it should be bulldozed on Day 1 of a new administration. No messing around, no hemming and hawing about procedure or costs. Order heavy equipment in and start knocking it down immediately, as surely as an overthrown tyrant's statues would be torn down.
Even the architect Trump hired to build his massive addition to the White House objects to the president's vision. The two have argued about the size of the 90,000-sq-foot project that would dwarf the mansion. @jonathanreports.bsky.social @ddiamond.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

It is unfathomable that the USG lawyers would sign off on a no-survivors boat strike (no get of jail free card).

There's clear precedent dating back to World War II trial of Germans for that very act, which lawyers know well.

When a politician says: we’ll deregulate health insurance and send you a “freedom account” check, ask: freedom to buy what? If insurers don’t offer real policies or can cherry-pick only healthy people, that money is a coupon for a store that’s not open.

A thing to understand about Stephen Miller is that he is going to quite literally die mad at the fact that his white supremacist vision for this country and his efforts to enact it will not just fail but largely be rejected by the country writ large.

The context to this about this ugly racism from Stephen Miller through is that they thought that Charlie Kirk would change everything for them and were furious when it didnt and they already know that this tragic shooting wont move the needle for them & are even more pissed at that.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization
