Pathologic 3 is out!!!

I did localization editing on it, with several of my friends. We polished the English language game text.

If you've ever been interested in Pathologic, you can start with this one - no need to play 2 first. (But you should play both!!!) store.steampowered.com/app/3199650/...

Daily reminder that the underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.
Anyway, AI has already stolen friends’ work, and is going to put other people out of work.

I do not think a political party that claims to be the party of workers in this country should be using it. Even for just a silly joke.

Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:

Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.

Make. Friends.
Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.
They have come to the convention hoping to "break in" and then find themselves -- shocker! -- a "nobody in the book world." Yeah no shit! We all are! I have gently told guys like this a million times that it takes most of us *years* of hard work but they do not believe that could be true for them. +

I've found this to be true for the translation industry too. Making friends and supporting each other (building a network of amazing people) can open potential doors, but it takes years to build up those relationships.

Fellow translators aren't competition, they're colleagues and friends.

All their freelance translators (some of whom had been working with Harlequin for +30y!!!) were told they would no longer receive work from Harlequin

Translation itself: engaging in your target language is great. Also engage in your native language to familiarize yourself with commonly used phrases/terms (ex. game menus)

Freelancing: You don't have to rate yourself like another agency would pay you. You CAN try charging higher for yourself.
To my fellow translators: what do you wish someone had taught you about translation (whether the act or translation or having a freelance job) that you had to learn by yourself?

A joke for my fellow word-tamers:

- How many translators does it take to change a lightbulb?
- Depends on the context.

Now that's Winter, I'm thinking about NEWSLETTER. But I haven't written anything for one yet...

Right now, my energy is going towards preparing Chapter 5 for localization. The translation process begins next week. We have extracted all the English text and we are now annotating it.
