My mother in law asked me to make meatballs for Christmas. Again!

I'm not a great cook, I'm ok at following a recipe. My meatballs are not as coherent as my mom's
What is the best compliment you ever received? Putting aside whether or not you believed it.

An action shot of grey fox in the garden, not sure if it saw something to pounce on but it's a cool shot.

The gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) is thought to be the oldest surviving canid species, having originated at least 3.6 million years ago.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone please remember to be kind to everyone and everything that you meet today, but most especially be kind to yourself. Fight for those that don't have the same privileges that we do, be safe and have a super day.

(If you're not in the US feel free to have some pie too. Everyone should have pie if they want)

People have inherent worth and dignity as human beings

Yes we pretend this is the kid's virtue name
I don’t know who is ready to hear this but people don’t have to add value

Like people should also be allowed to exist for free

This is possibly my favorite product answer yet:

Q: Will this deodorizing spray get rid of dead animal smell?
A: Yes, but you need to remove the dead animal or you will need to keep applying it.

Carve it into the shape of a turkey and we'll put it in an overfilled deep fryer.
what we don’t have in turkey fryer explosion videos, we make up for with 10-pound grease ball pics.

Twin Cities MN folks, question:

Do you know a pain management specialist who is not a dick to people in pain?

I need a specialist who 1) believes in chronic pain of unknown etiology, 2) is willing to provide pain relief for conditions that never improve, and 3) IS NOT A JERK.

"oh you can damage your skin with what you've been doing!"

".... Just make it permanently discolored? Can I tell you how much I don't care because I just want to not hurt for a little bit?"
I mean, jfc, most pain management specialists do not believe in treating pain. If they cannot solve a clear causal underlying condition (bursitis gets steroid injections, stiff shoulder gets PT, etc.) *they will not treat you*.

That is correct.

Pain Management does not treat pain.

My favorite uncle, Phil Parcak, passed away unexpectedly last night (great health, fit, only 74, in ER for fatigue, and just... went). In his honor and to help my family, please reply with your favorite jokes below. x rated is fine. He had the most incredible sense of humor+ we always traded jokes.

This is embarrassing

My ancestors came the "right way" by bringing their bodies into the US. Several came here late enough they had to not be Chinese.

What we have now is ridiculous.

There's a lot of ways for mandated things to go wrong, but I have high hopes municipal composting programs will become more common and easy

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Gender-affirming care saves lives
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.
