No one cares about your prestige reading. Just read what you want.

You don't have to finish a book you don't like. You're not hurting the book or the author's feelings

Not every book has to be for edification. Read for fun for fucks sake

What's your totally ordinary opinion about books that you nonetheless find compelled to share when asked on a social media site such as this one for your most extreme/unhinged/hottest takes?

I'll go first: manga is popular among young people because manga often features young people.

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

"Community" is a word that's often used to obscure divides. If you don't actually know vulnerable people in your community, your mental version of what your neighborhood is experiencing is likely centered on very different things than theirs. If you want to help, don't invent tactics from scratch.

We hope you're excited for tomorrow's episode on Ursula K. Le Guin's science fiction novel The Left Hand of Darkness - I mean we hope you're excited for every episode we put out but this one is over TWO HOURS (2nd in length only to Robespierre!) so brace yourself.

It infuriates me that as human-made porn is being increasingly censored across the board, AI porn is not only allowed, but celebrated. And AI porn exists because of stolen content from non-consenting, unpaid human pornographers. It's maddening.

“I still can’t believe how unhinged the last update was. Not only the nudity but the motions, boobs bounces more realistically, it’s incredible.”

Elon Musk's xAI seems to have relaxed filters on Grok's video generation, allowing users to create and share explicit AI pornography.

A whole troop of Girl Scouts went full single-payer when they realized a couple of their friends weren't getting treatment because they couldn't afford it. "There should be a law!"

I like to remind people about lifetime limits and the refusal of insurers to sell coverage to people with preexisting conditions.

The ACA has issues. But those 2 things alone make it worth saving and fixing.

Basically anything you've seen a doctor about before. I'm barely joking. Any diagnosis that isn't immediately completely fixed by treatment. Any injury with lasting impacts (take care of your back), any chronic condition (asthma, diabetes, probably being born prematurely) etc

It sucked bad

Bog bodies are so cool! I wonder why this person gets to sleep with them?

*Reads image*

Ah. Hmm. I think I'll also retire to my crypts

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

We are now able to experience Whooping Cranes in ways that were unimaginable only a few decades ago. It's probably been hundreds of years since flocks, numbering in the dozens of individuals, danced together in the warm autumn light. #Birds #conservation #SK

🪶 In the Ojibwe language, the word for chickadee is gijigijigaaneshiinh. To hear it pronounced (it sounds really cool) visit ojibwe.lib.umn.edu/m...

Wisconsin fans travel well. First frozen four we went to was St Louis, which is about... 5 hours of driving. There were at least 3 buses of Wisconsin fans. I think we only went to the final game that year, but it made an impression

yearly reminder to people insisting that we view Christopher Columbus as "a man of his time" that *the people responsible for the Spanish Inquisition* thought Columbus was out of pocket

Christopher Columbus was dragged back to Spain in chains by a crusading knight, convicted of tyranny and immeasurable cruelty, pardoned by Isabella but banned from returning to Hispaniola.

Fuck Columbus.

I am very tired of this, but a quick review.

In America, it is legal for you to own your bullshit laser, no matter how it got into the county.

How you use your bullshit laser matters. Most jurisdictions escalate to felony for lighting up any law enforcement. Doing to them in the sky is ++Felony.

This is such an astoundingly bad idea that I kinda think it’s a false flag or an op of some sort

Merits aside, it is insanely easy to be caught if you do this and the punishment for doing this is much more severe than you’d guess.
