Why I hate Gavin Newsom: a thread
In 2021, our county experienced a catastrophe. The Dixie Fire started in July, and by the beginning of August had burned hundreds of thousands of acres and the towns of Canyondam, Indian Falls, and Greenville.
Interesting that I keep getting assholes on my pinned thread because they just can’t stand criticism of Gavin.

Hey dickhead, not offering any hint of sympathy and actively vetoing settlement tax relief has everything to do with Gavin and his shitty lack of leadership.

Here he is all finished except for sound.

ROTFLMAO. Savagely accurate. I’ve been disappointed lately in Paramount’s Star Trek content.

32 degrees but the red tailed hawks are back. They’re not as skittish as the northern harriers

Really weird that the quake that showed up on USGS has vanished now.

I’m going to have to mute Nuzzi, aren’t I?

Why are still giving attention to this person?

Um…earthquake alert? But not a shimmy.

Finally watching the first season of Slow Horses. Hubs is not a fan…but then he doesn’t like mystery or thrillers the way I do.

The last of the turkey noodle soup has been delivered to my mom along with a healthy chunk of coffee cake.

Hubs and I recently realized that we have hosted every single holiday since I moved out of my mom’s house in the late 90s.

Every single one.

She’s disabled and elderly now, so it’s a given, but I could have used one holiday off when the kids were little.

While I’m on the topic, not everyone chooses rural living because they think it’s “better” or “friendlier” or even “safer.”

Sometimes it’s because they don’t like traffic or noise or lots of people. (Hi) Sometimes it’s because homes are less expensive. Sometimes it’s for employment.

🙄 Again with the cities are better/friendlier than rural discourse.

It’s not a competition.

You really don’t have to pit each place against each other.

People ragging on him for singling out young men, but even in the age of 2 income families, boys are socialized to be the primary breadwinner. They get a ton of media tying financial success directly to self worth. The same way girls get the BS beauty standards and carrying the mental load.
When buying a house is unattainable and jobs are disappearing, it's no surprise young people think they can’t succeed, especially young men.

It's not their fault. It’s Washington’s fault for allowing the middle class to be hollowed out just to make rich people richer.

Am attempting candied orange slices today out of some blood oranges.

I’ve never made them before, so should be interesting. Managed to use the mandoline without cutting myself this time, so yay!

(And yes, I had to check which spelling was the correct one)

Good news: the cranberry orange coffee cake turned out. Bad news: I still have a cup of cranberry sauce left. Now I have to either bake more stuff or figure out another use.

Ahhh dammit. 😭
It's with heavy hearts that we share that Claude, our beloved albino alligator, has passed away at the age of 30. Claude brought joy to millions of people at the Academy and across the world during his 17 year tenure. We will miss him dearly. 🤍

Or even a 504… Kids mask, but there’s a limit to what they can hide and the stress and pain it puts on them. I don’t think I left a single 504 meeting without crying. It took 3 years and having a special ed teacher be his regular teacher to get him evaluated.
It's basically impossible to get an IEP if you have a disabled kid who is currently getting good grades, so you have to wait until the grades start falling to get necessary accommodation. 🙃
Once again, no one making these claims seems to understand the enormous hurdles in the way of getting a kid the help they need - in this case - I dare anyone suggesting this to go through an IEP process.

Polling is so broken. Curious to see what the results are of the special election and whether the results are within the MOE.

Me: just order the boring holiday stamps.

Goes to USPS website: THERE ARE SPONGEBOB STAMPS!
December 2, 2025 at 5:22 PM
I have ordered the holiday cards. All 10 of them.

Our mailing list is tiny, but last year I didn’t get cards done. So I’m counting this as a win.
