Holy shit, that’s just actual theft.
In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

I guess one clarifying aspect of the regime's occupation of Minneapolis is that *no one* is coming to save us. No elected officials will protect you against the lawless thugs marauding around your streets. They won't even pretend to offer help.

They will hold indignant press conferences though.

Near Lyndale and 24th Ave in Minneapolis tonight, feds have reportedly shot another person.

Preliminary info is shaky for now, hearing two people injured.

BORTAC just rolled up in an armored vehicle. A crowd is gathering outside the police tape—MPD presence as well.

This. I am done returning to the status quo of what got us here. I want universal healthcare. I want a maximum wage tied to the minimum wage. I want omnipresent, cheap public transit and walkable neighborhoods. I want Supreme Court and police reform, and I want the rich to pay their fair share.
We need to pick up this Overton Window and throw it as far as we can. Stop waiting for shit to “be popular” and start advocating for what is transparently right.

Every time I see someone yammering about abolish ICE / policing and how DEEPLY UNPOPULAR it is, I want to remind them that the GOP abolished Roe v. Wade and that was also deeply, deeply unpopular, and here they are, in charge of everything still.

Kriss Kristofferson took such good care of Sinead O Connor and I love him for it

And I’m also always amused by the Flanderization of Willie Nelson because he’s

Just been a pain the collective ass of people for years

Because he’s SO pleasant and a cornerstone of country and such a n OG hippie
Country fans are upset with Zach Bryan after he criticized ICE in a song.

But don't let it be known that Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash all despised fascism and leaned heavily to the left.

The Trump-Vance admin just issued an order of final removal, to send him to El Salvador—where he fled from 21 years ago.

When Boudica's daughters were raped by Roman officials in AD 61, she gathered the Britains and burned London in such a fiery inferno that a layer of ash can be found still beneath London, known by archeologists as the "Boudican Destruction Horizon".

In 1902 London erected a statue in her honor.

This is, to me, the defining dyamic of everything the last six months. Any game theory notion of deterrence or the shoe being on the other foot ever is entirely gone. Either 1) They don't think they'll ever lose power again or 2) they're confident Democrats won't ever do the same things back to them
Budget agreements won’t matter, funding obligations won’t matter, expended funds on the basis of promised reimbursement won’t matter.

You really don’t get the impression the GOP is thinking through what this means for the second they’re not in control.
“We don’t have an appropriations process. It’s broken. It’s been broken for a while,” said Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., who sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

He predicted that there will be CRs and rescission packages for the next four years.

just thinking for no reason about how the colloquialism “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps” originated as a sarcastic joke because it is an obviously impossible thing to do, and how everything wrong with America is encapsulated by the ease with which we now casually tell poor people to do it
The problem with America isn’t the rich taking advantage of the poor, it’s the poor being OK with that.

When I lived in NYC, they ‘protested’ De Blasio by not patrolling Black and Brown neighborhoods to show how ‘crime infested’ they were.

For about three or four days, folks were barbecuing, kids were playing outside and house parties ran into the night.

The NYPD stopped ‘protesting’ soon after
To me, the lesson of De Blasio and the NYPD is different: they will hate you no matter what.

NYPD, especially the white well-connected officers who make up the upper ranks, get their news from conservative propaganda and will not respect your authority or cooperate with you no matter what you do.
