Just showed up to sit in with A Very Special Episode at The Pack Theater. Tonight I realized that I tell the box office person that I'm in the show like I'm admitting to being the one who tripped and dropped the top two tiers of the wedding cake into the pool.

That's because, for most public uses, "Generative AI" is like if you burned millions of tons of fossil fuels, increased carbon emissions& waste heat, & captured more fresh water than many cities use in a year all to make What If Sea Monkeys Constantly, Sometimes Dangerously, Bullshitted People
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy
Investors expect AI use to soar. That’s not happening
Recent surveys point to flatlining business adoption

A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

One time my traveling comedy company was pleasantly surprised by an invitation for the entire (gender-balanced, as it happened) group to go have casual drinks at the nearby home of some of the audience members.

We gradually realized that Something Was Up, and all the women requested that we leave.
Apparently today I have become the vector through which many people here on Bluesky have learned the association between upside-down pineapples and swinging, and I have to admit I don't know how to feel about this fact

Yes, stole it.

I do not get paid for your download there because YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME.

I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

We already don’t have enough providers as it is. On top of this being so demeaning, this is going to be a DISASTER for public health.
