I am finding both sides of this debate increasingly annoying and exhausting. There are different modes of organizing that work for different moments. Generally, yes, you want a genuine social movement like what is happening in Minnesota to be as open as possible.
I never claimed to be a leader of anything, and I’m not, I’ve been doing what thousands of other Minnesotans have been doing. With that said I know why it’s working because I SEE IT WORK: because the observers are disciplined, committed, nonviolent, and open. Their channels are open and HUGE.

“Opsec” as understood on the movement left invariably means “taking efforts to remain anonymous and ensure no one can see what you’re saying and who you are.” But these efforts are illusory and completely corrosive to the goal of public resistance and open organizing.
