"it is time HASS academics care about their students’ prospective jobs approximately as much as they care about their own. And, therefore, it is time to know something about it"

The inimitable @hannahforsyth.bsky.social is required reading as ever for those interested in Australian universities.

Yeah sure, we want knowledge for its own sake . But creativity, analytical thinking and communicating narrative is also economic stuff.

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

This is the weirdest social media thread I have ever read outside of cooker central during the pandemic.

We know where this ends. Where is the international outcry?

For non-US folks: IDEA is the rule that dictates that disabled kids are to have equal opportunities for a public education. Taking away the people who fund and enforce it is basically leaving disabled kids and their families to fend for themselves.

Vought’s daughter has cerebral palsy, and while she may not require “special” education, she would need adjustments if she attended any school.

Obviously, he is evil and does not care about hypocrisy, but I want people to remember: they’re taking this away from US, not themselves.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

Genuine question: for those enthusiastically pushing AI tools into every part of our education system—what checks/guardrails are there around algorithmic biases like this?

The administration “is currently pressuring OpenAI and other AI companies to make their models more conservative-friendly.”
OpenAI is trying to clamp down on ‘bias’ in ChatGPT
GPT-5 is better at resisting liberal ‘pressure,’ the company says.

The frustations of youth of #Nepal, #Bangladesh and #SriLanka have been caused by economic struggles and the economics of “development” itself, with governments focused on big-ticket infrastructure rather than robust mass employment.
