I'm seeing a lot of the same take of "you should have negotiated a better contract" and people need to understand that most don't have the option.

Marvel/Disney would just hire someone else they can underpay and exploit instead. That's how they operate...

A lot of you think it's ridiculous that Democrats would ever let Marjorie Taylor Greene of all people rehabilitate her image, but we just had a convention that featured border patrol agents and a congressman that voted against Obamacare more than 60 times, so I'm being extra careful.

It's also nice to see really good looking guys yearn, flirt, kiss like they mean it, and repeatedly ask about consent and comfort. A much-needed visual escape from all the depressing news, doomscrolling, and constant layoffs this year.

There are lots of reasons why Heated Rivalry is already incredibly successful, but they include the fact that many of the characters have absolutely no chill, openly yearn for what (and who) they want, and everyone is off-the-charts hot, including the Asian Canadian guy with autistic traits.

“everything sucks/everybody dies and nothing is resolved” is the most realistic type of fiction and there isn’t much of it…

even when contents are brutal, violent, & depressing, there is usually hope, or competence — some resolution or detente. closure.

virtually all fiction is escapist

Like if you’re not doing science with the understanding that someday some undergrad is going to read your paper and prove your favorite model wrong, what are you even doing?
if “science” only refers to what’s currently believed then it has no history; it’s a thin line of apparent lone geniuses rather than a socially and culturally embedded activity that has grown, changed and absorbed and lost elements over time. And everyone doing it now is Darwin, Einstein or Galileo

We're half a decade into studies finding that improving airflow in classrooms will reduce disease transmission enormously, and that bleaching surfaces etc. does very little. And yet nothing changes. Waves of flu and colds wash over schools, and the schools pretend it's an act of God.

I mean the Dredd Scott decision basically sparked the civil war, which the US won and then enacted birthright citizenship to reject Dredd Scott, so getting rid of it is just a reembracing of race being the basis of class and a bunch of other racist bullshit.

Like we fought the civil war about this
without birthright citizenship in the united states, you don't have a democracy and you don't have rule of law.

revoking birthright citizenship gives fascists free rein to purge the country of literally anyone they don't like. it opens the door to atrocities and mass murder. i am not exaggerating.

my brain chimes in with “because it is my heart” every single time i think of, use or hear the word “bitter” and sometimes i speak it out loud and nobody but thomas has any fuckin clue what i’m talking about

(i knew i liked josh for a reason!)
In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, “Is it good, friend?”
“It is bitter—bitter,” he answered;

“But I like it
“Because it is bitter,
“And because it is my heart.”

I'm still shocked that there are people who oppose birthright citizenship and consider themselves Americans, let alone a member of any particular political ideology. To be against the idea that if you're born here, you're a citizen is one of the most anti-american ideas I can conceive of.
still poleaxed by the idea that you could oppose birthright citizenship and still think of yourself as a liberal in any sense of the term.

It makes sense in a patriarchy that the age of consent is 18, while allowing child marriage to get around age of consent laws, because the law isn't about protecting children who are too young to consent to sex with adults, it's about protecting a father's property to maintain marriage value.
