It’s going to be a major kick in the butt to American democracy and freedom if it turns out that TikTok was more supportive of free speech when it was owned by a Chinese company than when it’s owned by Americans.
I know it's hard to track all the threats to democracy out there right now, but this is at the top of the list.

A fun thing about reading medieval history is that every time there was a mad or out-of-control king, the word of the day was "the king is surrounded by bad advisors." No one actually believed that, but they said it because to say anything more directly meant getting your head chopped off.
