[Rockwell "Freedom of Speech" painting] I don't think federal agents should be sexually assaulting clergy

Rev. Woolf, who below describes federal agents grabbing his neck and twisting his nipple as he protested (in a clerical collar) outside the Broadview ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, is ordained in both the American Baptist Churches USA denomination and the Alliance of Baptists.

"win the next election" is, however, a necessary but not sufficient condition for preventing authoritarianism. (of course if it is too late to prevent it and instead it must be overthrown, "win the next election" is unlikely to be possible.)

Christopher Columbus himself was a monster, but Columbus Day was instituted in 1892 to combat rising anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic bigotry after the lynching of eleven Italian-Americans. The same revanchists defending Columbus Day as "part of our US heritage" in 2025 would have opposed it in 1892.

The whole rally was incredible - IMMACULATE vibe, wildly exciting. But I especially loved Chi Ossé’s speech, because it looked toward a future where we do the work after we win.

"After we win in November, we do not demobilize. The rich and corporate interests who tried to buy this election with the millions they stole from our pockets will want to see us fail.

We won’t let them." - Chi Ossé

This is "debanking", and its a problem that has plagued sex workers for decades. It isnt right when its targetting sex workers and its not right when its targetting game devs and creators either.

Give paypros and your givt reps your grievances and demand that debanking of adult content stop

I develop adult video games on Steam. I can't find a bank that will actually let me withdraw my money from Steam. Can I get some advice?
Game has sold quite well on Steam. I've got almost £90,000 ready to withdraw after Steam's cut + VAT taken off.

However, it's been 2 months now and I can't find ANY bank in the UK who will let me withdraw my money from Steam. I've been banned/refused/unable to get a business account with:

Wise
Revolut
Monzo
Monese
Chase
Starling
Nationwide
Halifax
Barclays
Lloyds
RBS

It always comes down to, "Where did you get this money from?"

"It's coming from games I sell on Steam."

"Can we see the store page?"

"Sure."

"I'm sorry, we can't do business with you at this time."

It keeps coming down to a commercial decision purely because I make adult content.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I've pretty much exhausted the whole banking system. I just want to be able to be paid for products I've sold.

I see people sharing this, maybe as an act of shared mourning, an attempt to stir action, or confirmation that the world sucks. The death of reef ecosystems pushed me into a panic about climate change in 2013 & led to me starting the Climate Anxiety Counseling booth in 2014. So, a few things (1/5)

That insanity goes down officially as a grounded into double play, making it the only batted ball hit over 350 feet for a GIDP in the pitch tracking era (reg. + postseason).

Max Muncy grounded into a 404-foot double play.

Everyone I know who met Miss Major described her as a warm person and a force of nature. I hope she has found peace and rest.

Miss Major Griffin-Gracy passed away today according to the House of GG. She was a veteran of the Stonewall rebellion and a lifelong organizer for the safety and dignity of trans people, sex workers, and the incarcerated. She came from the same generation and milieu as Marsha and Sylvia. She was 78.

Also, ceasefires have happened under prior Presidents! The day he gets Palestine their own country he can be told he's the most special boy deserving of a shiny prize.

It really sucks Newsom vetoed the HRT and PreP access bills. The stockpile veto is going to hurt.

That said, given everything he has been saying this year, signing 8 out of 10 bills is a win for grassroots activists and the legislators filing the bills.

It shows your pressure has worked!
transnews.network
CA UPDATE:

Newsom has signed these queer rights bills:
- AB 82 / SB 497 (Medical privacy)
- AB 1084 / SB 59 (Name/Gender changes)
- SB 450 (Adoption access)

And vetoed these bills:
- SB 418 (HRT stockpile)
- AB 554 (PreP)

Final total: 8 bills signed, 2 vetoed.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Government workers 👇🏾
Lunch is on the house:

Being in the heart of downtown DC, we love that so many of our Federal employees stop by during lunch for a Donburi at China Chilcano or a Fútbol Club at Jaleo. And just because the government is shut down doesn't mean you have to miss out on your favorite lunch spot- because this time, its on us!
Join us for lunch from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM at any of our participating restaurants and enjoy a free lunch item when you present your government ID-you heard that right! Dine in with us Monday through Friday and choose your favorite: a sandwich at Jaleo, a donburi at China Chilcano, a wrap or pita at Zaytinya, or a torta at Oyamel.
We've always believed in serving our community with open arms and good food-no shutdown can stop that.

"abusing their right to protest"
djbyrnes1.bsky.social
Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson's full statement, in which she says she will sign an EO permitting protest "only at the safety zone located at the ICE facility on Beach Street," is up on the village's website.

"There are too many protesters abusing their right to protest," Thompson says.
Image text:

Broadview Shrinks Protest Safety Zones

The following statement can be attributed to Village of Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson:

“The protests at the ICE facility on Saturday night degenerated into chaos. There were 15 arrests, and 10 of those were around the age of my own daughter. As a mother and a mayor, I am mad. Broadview didn’t choose to have the ICE facility in our community. But it’s here. And so are Broadview residents. There are too many protesters abusing their right to protest. Too many are raising their fists rather than their voices, creating chaos at the expense of the people who call Broadview home. Broadview residents lack the protestors’ privilege to return to calm, quiet neighborhoods for undisturbed rest.

Therefore, I have issued a new executive order, in consultation with the Illinois State Police and Cook County Sheriff, that permits protests only at the safety zone located at the ICE facility on Beach Street.

There will no longer be a designated protest safety zone at 2000 South 25th Avenue between Lexington and Fillmore.

Additionally, it has been only God’s grace alone that a protester has not been struck and killed by a motorist on 25th Avenue given how frequently protesters dash onto this busy, four-lane street. This new
measure will provide for both the serenity of residents and safety of protestors.

As I have repeatedly said, I respect, support, and defend the protesters’ free and – peaceful – speech against the outrageous injustices and deplorable unprovoked chemical arms attacks by ICE agents against American citizens, journalists, and ministers that put Broadview police and firefighters in harms’ way.

Nevertheless, my first priority is to defend public safety and the residents who live here and people who work here. They deserve stability, safety, and respect, a quality of life that is currently being denied to them. They deserve the love and kindness that they expect by being Broadview residents.”

I am also struck by the lack of attention paid to how Israel fired tear gas and rubber bullets *today* at Palestinians waiting for the release of their loved ones.

This kind of brutality is just priced in, and therefore deemed unimportant to report on.

Very jarring how the media treats some lives as inherently and others not.

I am happy for hostages and their families to be reunited, but it’s shocking how little media attention is given to “how do Gazans grapple with the utter destruction of their homes, vast loss of lives, and ongoing famine.”
