I had my doubts about this post bc it felt a bit too engineered to shoot through social media. Seems like the author didn't really back it up much with reporters. Maybe Uber Eats still has scoring like this! But not sold on this being proof.
The author of a viral Reddit thread alleging fraud at a food delivery company tried to back up his claim by sending me AI-generated documents. Today I'm publishing those documents in the hopes that it helps other reporter see what we're up against in the age of AI www.platformer.news/fake-uber-ea...

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

they're doing it for gender, imo
It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

youtube just showed me a trailer for THEY WILL KILL YOU (2026) which looks more or less like they're copying the READY OR NOT (2019) formula, but in a Manhattan high-rise and with Zazie Beetz as the new maid/sacrifice-to-be but who *surprise* can fight like John Wick. (this is not a criticism.)

the system has flaws but tools do exist to address the problems we're having

the fundamental issue is that you cannot design a set of rules that will constrain a party that both controls the levers of power and does not want to be bound by them
This situation is precisely why we have impeachment

The extent to which Games Done Quick has helped to steer the larger speedrunning community - one of the most hardcore video game enthusiast subcultures there is - into becoming something so welcoming, inclusive and supportive astonishes me

Hilton corporate has invoked Ghost Protocol.
fwiw, this is an independently owned and operated hotel (Hilton franchisee) and Hilton corporate has disavowed its action here

Time to get one of those Hilton Rewards cards I guess!

Craven and shortsighted move by Hilton.

I’m old enough to remember when Nike stock 📈 while MAGA were burning Kaepernick jerseys.

The Resistance is a big market.
I deleted an earlier post praising Hilton for stating that ICE agents were not welcome.

Hilton states "This hotel is independently owned and operated, and the actions referenced are not reflective of Hilton values.”

Well, telling ICE to get lost reflects my values.
Hilton shares fall after DHS says Minneapolis hotel canceled reservation due to immigration enforcement
"We are not allowing any ICE or immigration agents to stay at our property," an email cited by DHS said.

I find it hard to square the preciousness about "why would someone ever stay on Twitter?" when everyone on this site knows that the community here intentionally chased off lots of people.

second degree murder, and specifically depraved heart murder, wherein the accused doesn't actively plan to kill a specific person or people but acts with callous disregard for human life - like firing a gun into a crowd or driving drunk - should apply to decisions made by CEOs and heads of industry
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

I don’t normally encourage threading in my mentions but @pnutsmama.bsky.social’s singlehanded effort to pass marriage equality is an inspiration.

Remember, lying is only bad if you’re lying to a person you respect, and we don’t respect our elected officials.
so, a bunch of years ago, new york state needed to pass marriage equality, and there were enough “probable no’s” to tank it. i was working for a religious org at the time, whose overseers sent out an email of the the list of state senators who could be influenced to vote no and “save marriage”

Well, that would definitely be bad, because the desirable outcome is for no companies to make LLMs.

Personally I do think it’s very cool when you spend 2 years working on a project about a sport you love and then some guy takes the transcripts of it to spit out an AI script for himself to read over a YouTube video for money. Thanks David!!!!!
Love seeing my friend @johncullen.bsky.social’s hard work on Broomgate get chewed up and shit out into some dickhead’s video essay for morons. But hey at least he linked to the podcast he stole in the description!

Hi Friends!

I know a bunch of you are wondering what Walz dropping out of the race means. It's ultimately a good decision - it would've been better for him not to run in the first place, but here we are. The last few weeks were just a preview of what was going to be a very hard election.

If this were a team of humans, liability would be obvious. Because it’s not, and because “safety” is theater (especially in this case), responsibility is intentionally obscured. It’s like stochastic exoneration.
I think the AI angle of this is obscurant. It doesn’t matter that grok is “an AI” whatever you take that to mean. Suppose X hired a team of guys to photoshop the clothes off of women and children whenever anyone asks. That’s functionally identical what happening here. It’s not complicated.
A functional country would shut Grok down permanently. Like, immediately. Right now. Last week. Whatever. Just flip the switch. Obviously.

a thing that may yet drive me off this site is that being in a markedly inflamed state all the time, and driving others into one, is seen as a marker of authenticity toward a set of political aims ...when that in reality is a really poor measure of dedication to changing the situation we're in
