I’m going to reiterate my view that ‘illiberal democracy’ is a mutually exclusive term.
You can face an illiberal polity where people get to vote, but that isn’t a democracy.
I can’t imagine why I feel the need to restate this at the moment.

The PA Democratic Party needs to treat John Fetterman as an opponent no less than a Republican, and actively work against him when 2028 rolls around.
Expel the yes votes from the party and cut off all their access to fundraising, then remove Schumer from leadership. Anything less is mealy-mouthed coward bullshit.
As this vote moves to the House, I stand with Democratic leadership as they refuse to rubber stamp the full-scale Republican assault on Americans’ health care and I am proud of the majority of Senate Democrats who opposed this vote.

I assume someone's also done a few deep dives into the democratic decline in Nauru that such policies under the likes of Peter Dutton and his predecessors have partly helped engender. Things were already rickety after they squandered their phosphate boon, but I gather we've just made things worse.
The sad thing is I doubt that anyone believes the NACC will actually address this with anything approaching the level of rigour and independence that it deserves. www.theage.com.au/politics/fed...

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.
It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

As I have remarked many times since ChatGPT burst on the scenes, a lot of bad things happen when the price of custom plausible bullshit falls through the floor. This example is the planning system but there are so, so many more.
I genuinely think there is a case that anyone using an AI product of this kind should face a short prison sentence. It's vandalism, just like painting on a wall or smashing a bus stop.
And you don’t even need an actually good bit of tech, which “Objector” may or may not be, to do this! If you just ask the free version of any genAI to do something plausible it still louses up everyone else’s productivity to work out it is bollocks!
