Okay can we quit with the Meme of the DOJ doing cover-ups and redactions. There's copies, on copies, on copies of the Epstein Files. Even congress has a few copies on record so redacting all those copies is just useless. Also, backlash will happen if any tampering did take place.

The thing about Trump is that he’s a totally unreliable partner who is also dumb, impulsive, and easily manipulated. So it makes sense to play nice with him, but only if you don’t cede ideological or political ground, because you know he’s going to screw you over later.

IMO this is a major reason why China is frequently significantly overrated in terms of relative global economic strength during various parts of its history. On paper it is 1st in GDP in the late 1800s, but in practice most of that is subsistence and very little of it is true economic activity.

Also, modern China has an extremely poor hinterland that basically doesn’t exist in America. Yes, the US coast are wealthier than the heartland, but in China, the difference is much starker
