Former US military lawyers speak out:

"The Former JAGs Working Group unanimously considers both the giving and the execution of these orders, if true, to constitute war crimes, murder, or both."

Annually, in the US:

Agriculture (Irrigation): ~42,000 – 47,000 Billion Gallons
Cotton (Apparel): ~900 Billion Gallons
Golf Courses: ~530 Billion Gallons
All Data Centers: ~160 – 200 Billion Gallons
AI (Specific): ~10 – 20 Billion Gallons (Est.)*

This backlash is absurd. The lies won't stop!
We could save soooo many lives but people are so caught up in their reactionary moral panic nonsense

The media has for years ignored anything Trump says on-line that might be wildly unpopular, like war with Venezuela, which this administration seems to want to do, but also has put zero work into getting public support for.
This seems like the kind of declaration by a U.S. president that should be mentioned *somewhere* on the front page of CNN or the NY Times, but the fact that it isn't (as of right now) tells us so much both about how this president is covered and the credibility of the U.S. government.
Might be kicking off.

seems suboptimal

I think people often interact with a memeified version of people, their actions and politics

McBride lead an effort to protect trans access under Medicare, and got all the Democrats, even Tom Suozzi, Seth Moulton, and Henry Cuellar, to sign a statement in support of trans rights.
I disagree with much of her recent politics and consider her a deep disappointment, but yes, misgendering her is always wrong

this isn't how it works, president dementia is having a crashout day because he's losing control of both the republican party and his own presidency and he knows it
It should go without saying, but the president has no authority to do this, and anyone reporting the story needs to say as such.

just a reminder that the current best explanation for why this was necessarily or desirable is that the President wanted to see some video of it
It is unfathomable that the USG lawyers would sign off on a no-survivors boat strike (no get of jail free card).

There's clear precedent dating back to World War II trial of Germans for that very act, which lawyers know well.

I've long held there's 35% of Americans who will never, ever abandon this twisted little creature.

He's testing whether or not that's true.

There is no line where major media outlets will start talking about his racism as a matter of fact, not opinion.
TRUMP: If you look at Somalia, they are taking over Minnesota.

REPORTER: What do the Somalians have to do with this Afghan guy who shot the National Guard members?

TRUMP: Ah, nothing. But Somalians have caused a lot of trouble. They're ripping us off.

they'd back off for a little bit and then drip drip drip and every lead up to a big speech it was like "old man Biden will show how dementia rattled he is and the plot will be exposed!" and then he'd do well

but no one can hit it out of the park every single time, and when he didn't...

indeed while the media was clearly waiting (and wanting) a big moment to go absolutely apeshit about Biden's age, even without it the last year? of Biden's Presidency was an endless drip drip drip of the media "raising questions" and then Biden would break through with a speech or event
a lot of people see the debate (and the reaction to it) as some kind of singularity, but really I see it more as a starting gun on an event already set up, the media had been aggressively dripping poison about Biden's age and ability for months (years)

I believe that universal healthcare is a good idea, and also that the Democratic administration that institutes it will be the last one for 12-16 years.

Worse if they're stupid enough to try Medicare for All but I think it's more likely to be something closer to the Bismarck model.
people sincerely have no idea what they’re asking for on this and it’s been a decade of collectively lying to ourselves about it and it’s really bad
A lot of people making the above complaints have decent but annoying healthcare and honestly I’m scared expanding coverage to all Americans will have apocalyptic electoral consequences because it might make that middle class experience equally annoying and also more expensive

The pumpkin is the symbol of the free New England yeoman farmer, a hard laborer of upright morals and father of the revolution. The pecan is the symbol of the slovenly Southron slavemaster and betrayer of the American spirit of liberty.

Therefore the pumpkin pie is clearly the superior pie.
one of the many reasons that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday is that it is a rare instance of Yankee culture being imposed upon perfidious Dixie, instead of the lamentable and much more common other way around
For Decades, Southern States Considered Thanksgiving an Act of Northern Aggression
In the 19th century, pumpkin pie ignited a culture war.

The behaviour of both of these people also raises questions about the outlets that raised them up and continue to give them opportunities. That just seems obvious to me.

Their personalities may be worthy of lab study, yes, but it doesn't change the big picture.
