One thing “conservatives” of her age group have shared for 40+ years is there interest in owning the libs, in performative utterances of views and beliefs that polite society *should* frown upon. Their perpetual thirst in advocating for these views and beliefs turns normal people off.

I think it’s also a lot like the appeal of Ayn Rand to teenage boys and their lack of knowledge of pragmatism, or cooperation, or how the rest of the world works outside of their small universe; they want to actualize fantasies they came up with as little kids playing with action figures.
