It's #PortfolioDay, which means I get to remind a few people that I'm an artist! A few years ago I withdrew from social media's expectations of omnipresence in order to focus on a dream project. That means no recent work as it's all secret BUT here are a few public pieces, per vibe:

There's a reason most of these arguments come from non-creators. They misunderstand art entirely, thinking of the process as a chore, an inconvenience that could and should be automated.
It makes no sense for me to commission another artist to do MY work, let alone some soulless algorithm.

The developers of Panzer Dragoon were heavily inspired by artist Jean Giraud, aka Moebius. When it came time to create a Japanese cover, they figured it wouldn't hurt to ask Moebius himself. To their joy, he said yes.
Sega of America, in their infinite wisdom, replaced it with a generic CG cover.

It's similar to how bots affect online culture. Once you've seen enough bots, you pick up on tells, but what do you do when real people start behaving like bots?
AI has enough tells that using it in any way will give it that *look,* but what happens when that look becomes a subconscious influence?

Why am I so against generative AI in games?
Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.
