unfortunately it won’t be “woke” if it is “aggressively pro science and medicine.” because such sentiments run smack dab into armies of educated people with paens to “alternative ways of knowing” and racist beliefs that non-white people don’t appreciate science and medicine

The west simply catches up to what I grew up with in post-Soviet Russia.
Official Soviet notion was that the only victims were "civilians" with if any group singled out it were the communists. Holocaust remembrance was forbidden, and seen as "zionist".
