This whole FBI criminal complaint reads like the whole plot was cooked up by the FBI informant. Naming your group "something something Liberation Front"? In 2025?

A million Muslims live in New York City. We belong here, as does every other New Yorker.

This is vile Islamophobia from the Councilwoman and it has no place in our city.

feels like a pretty obvious layup for Democrats to say, "this is an egregiously disgusting statement, even for him, and it underlines that the President is undergoing significant physical and mental deterioration, and either he is lying about it or is not aware of it."

Extraordinary courage from Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim, 43-year-old father of two, who bravely risked his life to save his neighbors celebrating Hanukkah.

Praying for his full & speedy recovery.

And so deeply inspired by his example.

If you're not Jewish and you're having trouble contextualizing the Sydney attack, imagine a shooting at a public Christmas tree lighting in NYC. Little kids running around. Lovely Hanukkah lights. Maybe some singing. That's what these gunmen shattered. That's what we have to carry into Hanukkah.

Using a horrific antisemitic attack to spread vile, hateful Islamophobia, harms Muslims while doing nothing to help Jews. Especially given that the hero who disarmed a shooter, Ahmed al Ahmed, is a Muslim immigrant to Australia.

The man who tackled one of the Bondi Beach shooters is a Muslim fruit store owner named Ahmed Al Ahmed. He risked his life to end the attack on Jews celebrating Hanukkah on the beach. May the Most High protect and heal him and bless him abundantly for his righteousness.

Genuinely horrific to wake up to news of an antisemitic attack in Bondi Beach, but still moving to know that a Muslim man heroically wrestled a gun off of one of the shooters

this is similar to what I've come to think of as the "reverse turing test"

when people find synthetic text is "good enough" to complete a task (homework, business report, email) it doesn't mean the machine is smart. it means they were asked to produce something that didn't matter

it's diagnostic
So similarly, when we see people who prefer ChatGPT or a similar synthetic text extruding machine as a source of medical information, that means those are people who are under-served in the current system.

Can we have a moratorium, just for the rest of December, on rancid takes that attempt to insulate white supremacists, misogynists, rape apologists, transphobes and other pieces of shit from their shittiness? Just as a little holiday treat?
I wrote about why we should not celebrate someone losing their job, especially in today’s America, even when they’ve done terrible racist things.

Losing a job should also be harder and involve workers’ bodies not unilateral management decisions.

The left should be promoting working-class solidarity, not delighting in seeing workers summarily dismissed.

Saw someone who was going "how dare you suggest the regime is weakened when they're still terrorizing cities and trans people" and I don't know what to tell you bud, dams are broken by cracks
It’s great Kilmar Abrego Garcia is free, after so much US govt effort to violate his rights.

And it’s good the regime has bogged down, tying up some of its limited resources in this failing effort.

And good few listened to the “popularists” who said don’t talk about Abrego, immigration, or rights.

This. This was the formative event of my generation & our entire politics in 🇺🇸. The structural break after which we were no longer a full democracy, when 5 Wizards In Robes decided they were a super-legislature & counting all the actual votes didn’t matter. The rest has been 25 years of commentary.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

This is a very divided vote. It means we've been encouraging dissent. It now goes to the full committee. Please keep calling and urging your reps to reject it
KOSA passed out of the subcommittee in the House on 13-10 vote. Meaning that they are FINALLY listening to some opposition. But not enough to prevent the other age verification bills from passing, let alone this.

They MUST listen to opposition. Losing this fight is NOT an option.
