Got my flu shot today and grateful to be in a place where COVID shots are available!
thatrabbicohen.bsky.social
Kudos to the pharmacist who asked when I showed up for my flu shot: “you’re not interested in the Covid shot?”

I didn’t get it today because I caught Covid in the latest wave and will wait a bit first.

But her simple question might be enough to open up a convo that gets someone vaxxed

Apparently they did not.

But @jfrejnyc.bsky.social came through and a few of us gathered across the street to show @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social a little love as he arrived and give the press some other perspectives on his candidacy

“We could hear them laughing.”

Rev. David Black, the minister of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, speaks to #CNN’s Erin Burnett in his first television interview since he was shot in the head with pepper balls while praying in front of an ICE facility.

Correct. Israel is holding thousands of Palestinians without charge. About 2000 prisoners are set to be released as part of the ceasefire and hostage agreement
thatrabbicohen.bsky.social
And that also means if you are crying with joy and relief at the possibility of the hostages coming home, you take that relief and you work to offer it to every Palestinian family unjustly separated from their loved ones.

The only way forward is together. Please, let's hold humanity together.
thatrabbicohen.bsky.social
...because of course there are thousands of Palestinians held without charge by Israel. Some folks are going to rage about the focus on the hostages.

And this is where humanity comes in.

These 20 human beings deserve life.
So do 2 million Gazans.

Let's work for a world where everyone is free
thatrabbicohen.bsky.social
It seems increasingly likely that tomorrow the remaining Israeli hostages will be released from Gaza.

This is a really important moment to lean into humanity, folks.

Each of these people has been through hell, and I'm worried that there are going to be people scorning their release... (1/)

I’m not trying to give @pbs.org ideas for raising money—but I am. I would buy women’s fit T-shirts of all my favorite childhood shows. Reading rainbow, 321 contact, square one, zoobiliee zoo. I feel like two generations will run to donate even more money for shirts with Levar Burton on them…

I prefer “anti-fascist“ for a host of reasons and this is a nice practical one.
ifycomedy.com
I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

‪‪I don't know how I feel about #NationalComingOutDay.

But I know my Queerness is in the Image of God.

I know that the more I dwell in God, the more Queer I feel. And fiercer, and more vulnerable, and more loving, angrier, and less suited to this world yet more in it.

Every time Judaism becomes a national topic -- which seems to be every day -- it's like a free-for-all of gentiles confidently being publicly wrong about us.

Tell me your bagel order and I will tell you *based on NYC cultural expectations* if you have won or lost your election for political office in NYC.

One of my favorite things about NYC is whenever anyone runs for office here they are required to disclose their bagel order.

Pumpernickel Everything (yes this is a thing at the bagel place on my corner and it is the best thing) with scallion lox spread. Toasted unless it's still warm from the oven.
