Any FinTwit refugees have good recommendations for how to invest going forward if securities regulations won’t be enforced and federal spending is going to be primarily directed towards friends of the kleptocracy?
Obvious answer: the two pro-kleptocracy stocks (on a tear), but I can’t support them.

Stay in what fight? Also the boat was flipped over but it was still loaded? This is patently absurd.

Takes a lot of chutzpah for the jerk who fomented an insurrection in an attempt to override democracy, and who is currently shredding our Constitution and eviscerating our national security, to suggest someone else wants to “kiss our country goodnight.”
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

This whole thread is worth reading. One thing that becomes very clear is that neither Witkoff nor anybody else in Trump’s inner circle fears God or any kind of judgment in the afterlife.
Extraordinary WSJ reporting today that unveils the extent to which Trump, Witkoff, Kushner and US business executives are salivating over business deals with Russia while Putin’s forces kidnap Ukranian children and bomb civilians in their apartments.

This article provides more data showing how easy it is to manipulate humans on social media.

These researchers rerouted the algorithm on Twitter to push some users toward “antidemocratic attitudes and partisan animosity”.

It only took 1 week to elicit changes that used to take 3 years.
Reranking partisan animosity in algorithmic social media feeds alters affective polarization
Today, social media platforms hold the sole power to study the effects of feed-ranking algorithms. We developed a platform-independent method that reranks participants’ feeds in real time and used thi...

Great thread which clearly and concisely explains quantitatively why Trump’s ideas are idiotic.
As a reminder, 50% of households PAY NO INCOME TAX!!

That means BELOW MEDIAN INCOME HOUSEHOLDS would see a TAX INCREASE averaging $12,600, and top 10% would see a tax cut of $140,000

That doesn’t sound fair, and it is not supposed to be fair

Republicans resent paying taxes to help poor people /5

I just don’t understand how you would want to take Russias side on anything. They are poor alcoholics who bring nothing to the table. In what world would you want to be on their side?

Russia is cold, miserable, and poor. Witkoff is taking advice from losers. I just wouldn’t do that. He’s an idiot

Anybody even modestly familiar with America’s legal system will instantly recognize this as an obvious, ridiculous lie.

For everybody else: you don’t get to say “no thanks” to the FBI when they demand documents about your sex-trafficking enterprise.

I assume one of Trump’s handlers was supposed to warn him that, as pre-tariff inventory stocks run low, inflation is going to increase over the next few months as tariff costs are passed on to consumers…but Trump internalized the warning as an exciting promise of new tariff revenue gushing in soon.
“That heavy inventory purchase is now, however, wearing thin, and soon Tariffs will be paid on everything they apply to, without avoidance, and the amounts payable to the USA Will SKYROCKET, over and above the already historic levels of dollars received.”

chat is it a good sign for the stability of our federal government that the president is having a multi-day crashout demanding the arrest of his opposition over a video he didn’t like and the entire thing is being studiously ignored by everyone with the power to execute it

“A crime of serious proportion”— Trump’s illiteracy is almost as bad as the derangement and desire to execute patriotic Americans who oppose him.

I had a popular account with a valuable audience and my Twitter payout was $80 a month-ish, to the point where I disabled monetization instead of uploading my ID. Payouts are only material if you live in a developing country, so “guy in Nigeria posting right-wing Amerislop” has taken over the site.
Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

It sure looks like Axios got played here. Ukraine held the line, but it was Axios who put them under terrible pressure. The only clear things about this shitshow are that Axios owes us an explanation, and that media must stop printing 'scoops' from motivated sources while granting them anonymity. 5/
Ukraine is rejecting Trump’s plan right now at the UN Security Council.
