I quite liked Heart of Darkness by this designer. This naval horror game should be good.

Now that I've traumatised a non-zero portion of my readership...

Heart of Darkness by @navypink.itch.io is a 4-10 5e DnD adventure I backed on kickstarter.

I am a lazy hack GM that enjoys running modules. I can, have and will make up my own stories but see first sentence.

That does sound like he considers Germany home.

Apparently Spain and China don't like dual citizenship!

Anglophiles I take on a case by case basis.

I apologise for my poor communication. I quite like Americans*, and coming from the 80s, I _can_ see why people over romanticise the US. 😀

*the government is a different story
homebrewandhacking.bsky.social
Huh...

Moved here in 2012, as the Cameron government was kicking into high omnishambles, and... likes it better than the USA.

Really hard to navigate this cultural shift. Some of my contemporaries are ardent americanophiles and I can understand why.

Short of physically setting it on fire, there are few _worse_ uses for $40bn then AI.

It's costing billions and maybe making millions, so that's less than a 0.1% return on investment for the companies _shilling_ AI.

Companies using AI? Short term wage reductions but then they have to hire again.

So good! I'm quite a keen amateur, but the fact that I can cross-check what he says with other sources makes me more confident in his work.

I've got to find time to see the latest one on starfish!

Vancouver Island was absolutely stunning when I visited (back in... '05) SO MANY Bookshops. Loved it. And you have cougars! #SoBlessed :)

Sure, there's a periodic memetic scourge ("discourse") where people argue things like "YA fiction isn't real writing".

People are always welcome to disagree with me, but my personal experience as a person who is no longer young, is that I quite enjoy reading it and think it's very valuable.
homebrewandhacking.bsky.social
And the blurst (best-worst) part of this is if Venture Capital had thrown as much money into TTRPG at this rate as they are doing AI?

They'd have a MUCH better return on investment.

Seriously, they're not seeing 0.1% returns.

i have amazing money trick you give me 10 million dollars, I will turn it into 1 million dollars of TTRPG sales

Young Adult fiction is harder to write and often better to read than regular fiction. People who look down on it don't appreciate good stories and fun times from people who are competing with smart phones.

If a government did things that I disagreed with but otherwise maintained solidarity with marginalised groups then I would be prepared to consider them on the merits. Pragmatism is important, and the perfect is the enemy of the good.

But actively harming minorities to court fascists isn't ok.
homebrewandhacking.bsky.social
Good question, is Polanski splitting the "leftist" vote?

I'd argue no. The minimum requirements to be considered a "leftist" are to be standing in solidarity with marginalised groups.

This "Labour" government has thrown trans kids and disabled people under a bus. I don't consider them "leftist".

I'm quite a critical thinker.

That doesn't mean that I disagree with, or even dislike, you or your work.

If I'm finding it interesting enough to talk about, that's like the top 10% of things I like. So... good job?

Stuff I dislike or find uninteresting I just don't talk about. It's not for me. 😀
moonlight-at-dawn
Why did "be critical of your media" turn into "find all its flaws and hate it" why did people become allergic to FUN
sayitwithsarcophilus
Because people confuse "critical as in critical thinking" with "critical as in criticizing something," so they think that "look for something bad, no matter how far-fetched" is what "being critical" means.
QUEER PRIDE

They also don't realize that "literary criticism" means...
Okay. What literary criticism IS, is like taking a mechanical clock apart to see all the gears and learn how it fits together and approach your next clock with more knowledge of what makes it tick.
What they THINK literary criticism means is, you take the clock apart and beat all the pieces with a hammer, then scream at it because it doesn't tick for you the way it used to.

I know you're writing for non DnD systems but you haven't specified level range.

I really liked heart of darkness because it seemed designed to minimise my prep time.

Do you have a different design philosophy working for 3 very different systems?
