I would go back to working at a bookstore. I miss it so much even though the thought of doing in person customer service again weirds me out a little. I miss helping people find new authors & books to love. To have someone come in with "it's blue & about X" & handing it right to them.

I would go back to working at a bookstore. I miss it so much even though the thought of doing in person customer service again weirds me out a little. I miss helping people find new authors & books to love. To have someone come in with "it's blue & about X" & handing it right to them.

1. Stress less because I wouldn't have to worry about Social Security kicking me off SSI.
2. It depends on the amount paid out. If it's around 1,000 a month, nothing would change. I'd pay a little more in rent, but I'd still have around $400 a month left, which is fine.

Even with a Universal Basic Income I would still want to work because I love what I do. Any money earned over what is needed for bills, food, etc, would go to supporting other creatives and building a more sustainable future for my community.

I would feel a lot less pressure as the single income earner in this house! I would also take a few unpaid weeks off work every year to write and publish and paint and garden and just save my creative soul because eventually I'm going to burn out like this.

I think about this a LOT. lol. Short answer: ideally the same thing, but with a *much* better work-life balance. Like, I would definitely keep working as a chemist, but I would do 25-30ish hours a week so I can have more time and energy for my creative work, leisure, and maintaining a social life.

I think about this a LOT. lol. Short answer: ideally the same thing, but with a *much* better work-life balance. Like, I would definitely keep working as a chemist, but I would do 25-30ish hours a week so I can have more time and energy for my creative work, leisure, and maintaining a social life.

If it's enough for a mortgage payment, then that, immediately. Then I could teach from home, host rehearsals (and visiting friends!), look into fostering (kittens, puppies, kids...), teach a little less, write more, maybe even design more knitting patterns. It would be nice to be creative again.
