The bird pictured is an Alpine chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus), also known as a yellow-billed crow, sitting on a rock. The bird has shiny, jet-black plumage and a bright yellow, slightly curved beak and red legs, which contrast sharply with its dark body. Alpine choughs are typical inhabitants of high mountain regions above the tree line.
