#Gannets seems to have been my theme for the week, but it is also Rob's theme for today's #BirdOfTheDay, so here's another, this time an early morning gannet in flight at Bempton Cliffs

I've gone for gannets again for Rob's #HeadShots theme for #BirdOfTheDay. The #Mr&Mrs theme the other day got me looking at my gannet shots again, and I thought I would try a lighter, softer edit for this one.

#SundaySquirrel is here again
I have been back with the red squirrels ♥️ this week after a long break for various reasons.
This is one of three siblings that visit our feeder.
Pleased with this shot - it only posed for a moment!

It seems to be a very long time since I photographed a #birdonawire, Alan's #BirdOfTheDay theme for today, so here's a yellowhammer on our garden fence from a few years back.

Here is a beautifully dainty kittiwake for Alan's #BirdOfTheDay #shadesofgrey theme with more complementary shades of grey in the surrounding rocks. This lovely gull is in trouble, red listed, with the UK breeding population nearly halved over the last 50 years or so.

The reed bunting is one of the birds I have #least captures of, Alan's theme for #BirdOfTheDay. Although it is common, I have only one shot.

This is Meg, who we lost in June, much missed mum to Monty +3 more in our family. Not a typical Lab, mistrustful of people, very private, very independent. Often she climbed the garden wall, jumped a field gate, & wandered through the sheep down to the river, visible only by their gently parting.1/2

Quick! Today is the last day to sign the petition to protect brown hares from shooting during the breeding season & save their young from starvation. Please consider signing if you haven't already or pass on to friends & family if you have.

Here's a great white egret for Rob's #BirdOfTheDay
It's a large bird, but still dwarfed by the reeds in this shot.
Taken last February in late afternoon winter sun.

Just completed the editing of images from trip to Lake District. I understand why Alfred Wainright had no desire to travel abroad. A view of #GrassmereLake as autumn takes hold.

Apparently it's #UKFungusDay so here's a phone snap of a pink waxcap I found in a new spot in our fields a couple of weeks ago. I've found them in a couple of other places before, but it's good to find a new location.
