Just watched the first episode of 'Hamza's Hidden Wild Isles' on BBC1.... outstanding. He is such a nice bloke and a natural at explaining his subject... a worthy successor to Sir David Attenborough ?

For #StandingStoneSunday, remembering a wonderfully atmospheric visit to the incomparable Castlerigg stone circle recently. The wisps of cloud in the valley added to the mystique.

Flora MacDonald's birthplace and monument on beautiful South Uist in the Western Isles. She was born on an apparently unknown date in 1722 and would later become famous for helping Bonnie Prince Charlie cross "over the sea to Skye". More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

When I heard that today’s #BlueSkyArtShow was #Glow, this immediately came to mind. The May 2024 auroras made me cry, they were so beautiful.

The spectacular May 2024 auroras as seen over the western hills of the Willamette Valley. Glowing purples at the top of the frame give way to a bright, wide swath of magenta that blends into streaky swirls of lime green near the dark silhouette of the hills and the fir trees on the right. Neighborhood lights shine on the center hill.
