Manual focus, manual exposure and needing to cut the film leader before loading it in the camera. This is my Leica 🙂

Lovely! Manual everything is where I started about 60 years ago. I still use my 1980 Olympus OM2n, which I bought new and a 1940 Leica IIIb that I found on eBay 😊

Ground wolf spider in the act of "ballooning" 🙂 #photography #macro
Ground wolf spider on top of a fence post in the act of "ballooning". They spin silk that is picked up by a breeze and eventually, the spider becomes airborne

I visited a local footpath after heavy rain the other year. The good news was that I found this stunning garlic snail. The not so good news was that my jogging bottoms soaked up a load of water and began to weigh me down... #photography #macro

It's three tiny things from me tonight. My very first dance fly #photography #macro

Looks like a small pearl bordered fritillary to me. I didn't get to see the small version, but I did manage to photograph a PBF earlier this year 🙂

Apparently, the ‘accessible counter’ has been repaired & now goes up and down Nobody told me or mentioned it would also double as a cat-powered fairground ride

Let’s just say I’ve experienced first-class vertical travel.

Treatos urgently required to calm my shaken dignity.

(cough...) Twelve 🙃

It's terrible, isn't it? I'm not coping with any news at the moment...

It's been one of those days, but I've just managed to get one more image of the kingfisher done before I take a few cats to bed 🙂

I still think it's better than buying the old CS versions. I got CS5 on a Black Friday deal for £555 many years ago. I think CS6 was about £1,700 when it came out a couple of years later. (I didn't buy that one, BTW) 😉

I have a very old deal with LR and PS, but no cloud storage, for less than £10/month. They have remained true to their promise to keep it below £10, although I now have to pay yearly. I can't seem to find it on their pricing plan though...

To be fair, I don't know what 90% of LR does. I correct for the lens, noise and white balance. Ensure nothing is blocked or blown and mask the subject for a bird or bug to add a tiny bit of sharpness and texture. I sometimes reverse that mask to tone down contrasty backgrounds. I never use presets 🙂

I can just imagine... 😂
zooey1.bsky.social
... but the top line of the wings had picked up green from the grass. LR was able to detect this and correct the colour 🙂

I do have an excellent camera if I need to push the ISO, but yes... Lightroom really is that good. I only use denoise at 50%, but the image is clean, even zoomed all the way in. Not just noise, but it finds colours and edges. I had some short-eared owl images with the bird close to the ground...

I chose a gloomy day deliberately. I think I prefer them like this 🙂

One more from me tonight. Taken a couple of days ago in really gloomy weather, but I love it. Shot at ISO 6400 🙂 #photography #birds

It is. Deer poo and duck feathers everywhere, but I would rather have the wildlife 😂

On a bright day, we still see dragonflies over our fields 🙂

This Palestinian man shed tears of joy upon finding his home in northern Gaza still standing.

Thousands of Palestinians are returning mostly to rubble in the north, following the pullback of Israeli forces under the ceasefire terms.

Sorry - I should have said. I only have current kingfisher images and I don't want to bore everyone, so I mostly share older photographs.

Generally, people report the willow emeralds much earlier, but I don't see them until the middle of August. It's still a 3-hour round trip though 😉

We actually have fallow deer visit our garden, but we can't match the beauty of a deer park 😊
