One of the reasons that they hate sex ed is they do want young girls getting pregnant. They want young girls getting pregnant and then to use the fact that they got pregnant to make them part of a permanent subjugated and beholden class that often has to navigate survival via sexual access to men

They liked being able to sexually coerce the naive neighbor girl and have her deal with literally all of the consequences, and for those consequences to be as punitive as possible so she stays reliant on men.
also we really slashed teen pregnancy and now the right is mad that we did.

Now more than ever we need to internalize the true message of 'A Christmas Carol', which is that you have a moral obligation to not make your past traumas everyone else's problem

I have been periodically saying this for a while, but the movie is far more compatible with the worldview of the knuckle-draggers than most people think
Rewatching Sicario for the first time in 6 or 7 years.

I’m reminded of how easy it might be for some 22 y/o to watch this movie and join CBP thinking that if they play their cards right they’re going to be an operator fighting cartels rather than kidnapping construction workers off of the street.

TPUSA needs to be banned from campuses and students associated with them need to just be expelled. no legitimate reason to allow an organization that exists only to harass students+faculty and violate student government campaign finance rules

Both can be true. I think there's something exquisitely twisted about the pair of them, and we're all in on some particularly depraved kink here.

But also, *if* (big if) the substantive allegations are true, this is a massive indictment of the profession, I'm afraid.
you know, what if they aren't actually a commentary on journalism or the state of media. what if these people are just extremely weird

I genuinely do not think it is possible for non marginalized people to uplift marginalized voices at least through something as crude as social media shares. I Basically never see someone share a marginalized perspective they disagree with, so then all you are doing is amplifying your own view.
But people like MRO are doing the whole "Listen 👏 to 👏 Palestinians" and presenting their most deranged poasters, kinda like the weird Hasbarah accounts who do the same thing with Jews, and the Jewish Voice you should Listen to ends up being Meir freaking Kahane ימ"ש

Pretty much everyone agrees that e.g. Harvey Weinstein had vast power over the news media - catching and killing/legal threats to kill negative stories about him and his crimes while planting negative stories about his accusers - but if you suggest a similar phenomenon exists for political journos..

because a bunch of you can’t hear dogwhistles and think this is Based or something, the foreign country she’s talking about here is “Jews”. Just wanted to clear that one up for yall.

If you all want an actual Most Woke Opinion, it’s that romanticizing backwater patriarchs who only have themselves to blame for their ills is a betrayal of every battered housewife, lynched minority, and queer kid cowering in the closet.

I think methheads are unlikely to be forces of profound social-spiritual revelation because they fried their brains on meth.

They were helped by a hugely favorable media environment where many, many people were eager to muddy the waters.
a take which I thought was too basic to write up but I clearly should have written up lol was that one underrated success of the 2024 Trump campaign was to manage to make it *look* like the Kamala campaign was back-to-back culture wars, they did a very good job on that front!
Pundits: Why didn't Kamala Harris run on kitchen table issues?

There's a big argument to be made that Trumpism is a revolt of America's hereditary elites who are apoplectic that the beginnings of a true meritocracy threatened to replace some of them.
The difference between the sociopathic and non-sociopathic takes is really quite stark

i think online gambling is a cancer that is spreading throughout our society, it was a horrible mistake to de-regulate it, and we desperately need to crack down on it again
i can’t talk about sports gambling anymore without sounding like a crank but i do believe legalized sports gambling is like 15-20% responsible for our current dystopia
The Athletic polled hundreds of players from across the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL about their opinions surrounding how sports betting impacts players — the responses were haunting.

This feels akin to why I've drifted away from D&D. It wants to position itself as a generic toolbox, but the mechanics don't actually support that. And the semi-genericness means there's just not enough there to fire the imagination compared to games with a clear vision of what they're for.
I suppose my take on all this is that as of 2025, Dungeons and Dragons does not feel like a very coherent game/brand. Some of that is by design because they want to be the “everything” game. But I think they‘ve spread themselves a bit thin in terms of vibes/aesthetic.
The only thing I have an issue with here is there’s a friendly beholder

That’s just wrong

Yeah. I think some of WotC is in a weird place where they are dead set on making DnD a place where it’s never the right thing to kick down a door and take everyone’s stuff and equally deadset on the rules revolving round it and I’m not even mad, I’m just confused.
I think their game is at odd with their vibes. It’s a combat focused game that wants to be a bright, happy setting with minimal conflict.

I’m just saying that to me, it feels like nobody is at the wheel. The 5.5 era feels like design by committee. I’m not saying it’s a *bad* game as far as the meat and potatoes go, though I feel like the refusal to admit it’s a new edition is dishonest. But I don’t really see a vision.
But like… even the PHB and DMG feel like they’re not on the same page of where they want to be on the cozycore spectrum. It just feels… incoherent.

I maintain that the obvious explanation for what is happening worldwide right now is that, thanks to media fragmentation, almost every politically informed person exists within a community of ENDLESS INDULGENCE, where you are actively encouraged to embrace cathartic narratives as unimpeachably true.

I think Schumer has to go because the trust just ain’t there, honestly. Like, whatever your opinions on the respective matters, the Israel/Palestine thing followed by the Mamdani thing followed by this one right after another… We need someone who can unite the party somehow. IDK who that’d be.

This is also why the full court press by much of the organized American Jewish community against Mamdani is not just wrong and Islamophobic, but short-sighted, as well. If Mamdani gets shut down, anti-Israel sentiment won't just go away. It will go into politicians who are actually antisemites.
