Last night a student was hit by a driver in the crosswalk I discuss in this thread. I passed by shortly afterward and they seemed stable but injured. The driver was standing around with everyone else and "cooperating" so was probably let go without a citation.

A thread about how my nominally progressive workplace is car-brained: Grand Ave runs through our campus. Before its reconstruction, there were mid-block crossings w/o pedestrian right of way. Some motorists would lose their goddamn minds if they had to stop or even slow down bc someone was crossing

It’s true! There is plenty of low-risk, legal work you can do that’s fairly mundane but helps immensely.
I would like to encourage people to get involved in the community with anti-ice actions. You can take a very passive role and that is completely fine. One important aspect is community education about the fact that while it doesn't necessarily stop them, the vast majority of ice actions are illegal
