The Science and Media Museum in Bradford used to be this, back when it was the museum of Film, TV, and Photography, before the Science Museum Group took it over, drained it of funding, took all the good stuff off to put in storage in London, and replaced it with "interactive experiences".

My amazing startup idea, called “Folkswerve”, is where freshers give me their phone, I give them a burner, and put all the phones in a cargo bike and just ride between campuses and the Tesco (and the occasional pub). Upgrade options include mundane insta shots of local places, etc.
I don’t know what’s worse here, the free advertising for adult stalkerware or the Beeb normalising it as an act of family love.

On every public policy committee I sat on - gambling, drugs, animal experiments, law of homicide and others - someone would ask ‘But what would the Daily Mail say about our recommendations?’ I now regret that we never gave the right answer. ‘We shouldn’t care.’

I wrote a bit about this many years ago on Twitter-that-was: the algorithm has gradually eroded "here's what you want to see" by replacing it with "here's what we'd like you to want to see."

It continues to trade on its former reputation solely due to inertia. Underneath, it's all ads.
love to live in a world where all my personal data is relentlessly harvested so that megacorps can feed it into their all-knowing algorithms and yet somehow the end result is that algorithm going “we think you’d like Clarkson’s Farm”

In today’s episode of #FixTheForms, a dilemma that’s familiar to many: read the instructions or rush it?

Pro tip, and National Audit Office advice for many years: design the instructions so that people can start straight away, using instructions as they need them as they rush.

Parental dilemma:
Do I *actually* read the 88-page PDF "Parental Guide to school admissions 2026-27" or just wing the application and hope for the best?

As someone who worked in tech through the dotcom crash, I've been thinking a bit about how public-service orgs were great incubators of digital talent in the early 2000s. Fanciful as it seems, the BBC and C4 were basically hotbeds of talent development and risk taking.

Sorry to keep banging on about it but it's literally *they are on Twitter and think it's the majority view*
This is pretty striking and makes me wonder exactly what Labour have been up to in making policy seemingly in response to / fear of the former rather than the middle group.
Why do people think England flags have been raised on lampposts?
