Ha! Yeah they played really well but I think they were all sick of each other by this point.

I saw Sugar on the FUEL tour in Wolverhampton before they split. They were great, but they *didn’t* play If I Can’t Change Your Mind. The collective “?” hovering above the crowd could be seen from space.

Not heard it yet, but Bob has put out a solid solo album every 2 years like clockwork since the split (this year’s is a bit by the numbers though, IMO). Let’s see if they can recapture some 1992 magic.

2 London dates next May, which I assume will be like gold dust. Fingers crossed for a more extensive tour once they’ve warmed up.

Would it surprise you that the owner of Scientific American's parent company, Stefan von Holtzbrinck, invested $37 million in Inkitt, an AI firm?

What a SHOCK

I’m lucky enough never to have heard what Sam Altman’s voice sounds like (and plan to keep it that way), but from the pictures I imagine he sounds like Ray from Everybody Loves Raymond. One of those whiny, selfish man-babies.

"users with no mental health problems" is a WILD phrase.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Excellent Guardian piece on Aadhar, India's digital ID system, that captures the dilemma extremely well. Digital-by-default methods create huge convenience for some, double-down on social exclusion for others, and it is easy for their scope to rapidly expand www.theguardian.com/world/2025/o...

Interesting chat with Stewart Lee. There’s a bit in the middle where he talks about his love of Marvel Comics from the 60s and 70s, as they were written by stoned countercultural hippies (whereas DC heroes are tools of the state). @jukes.ie

Today, we're launching Transforming Public Services for a Modern Wales. This report sets out a clear path for the next Welsh Government to move beyond short-term fixes and deliver better, human-centred services.

In today’s episode of #FixTheForms, an example of how long it can take to roll out a fix in a complex organisation.

The NHS improved the “Friends and Family” in 2020, but @blangry.bsky.social just got asked the previous bad version. 5 years later.

That’s Blumenthal-style fusion. All good.

You can imagine a “despairing parent” inspired taster menu.

“This dish is inspired by the time my daughter refused to eat the Shepherds Pie I made because she didn’t like the texture, but then ate a Coco Pop she found under the kitchen table”

Student on train put a pen on the table and watched it roll slowly to the other side. Then he looked up with a satisfied grin in the hope the bloke opposite had enjoyed watching it as much as him (I don’t think he was bothered).

Revolut didn’t spring fully formed from a Dubai sand dune.
It grew in London, funded by UK and EU investors, hiring UK engineers, built on UK infrastructure, by people educated in UK schools.

But sure, he “did it all himself.”

I see the bros are all over LinkedIn this week, clutching their cappuccinos and defending Revolut’s Nik Storonsky for fucking off to Dubai, arguing we need to tax startup founders less.

Because apparently if we don’t subsidise billionaires, they’ll flee.
