It IS baffling! It’s like a 5-minute waiting period and drivers exit the bus during it all the time. Like there is legit no explanation that I or anyone I know has been able to come up with other than “mean and drunk with power” 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Right?! From jump I didn’t believe he actually thought this was policy bc it just so clearly isn’t, but with him calling Dispatch this morning I really don’t know WHAT to think—like it could def still be him tripling down bc he didn’t think I’d call his bluff but I just don’t know!

It’s clearly an unforced access error but also, for my morning commute, it makes MUCH more sense for me to stay on one bus & work on my laptop rather than get off halfway to the Square & wait 10-20 min for a transfer that will get me to the office MAYBE 15 min sooner, even when the weather is nice!

It was him insisting that all passengers must disembark at the Square when the bus reaches the end of one route/starts a new one & walk three blocks to REBOARD THE SAME BUS. That has NEVER been the policy & Metro’s own online trip planner tells you to stay on board when the route changes!

Two different customer service reps actually responded to my complaint last week and one of them appears to be In Charge, so I just sent them a LENGTHY follow up email. Like legit this dude should not be interacting with the public!

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Honestly I’d expect Special FX to be totally fine even now if it’s a sealed bottle. There’s a LOT of variability in shelf life but it always stood out on this factor too.

Enter the Alcoholics Anonymous model of addiction, which is already an incredibly specifically Protestant theological framework (sinners in the hands of an angry god etc) with no scientific evidentiary basis whatsoever—so of course it’s very popular with Evangelicals so why NOT also use it for porn?

BUT typical routes to resolve it don’t work—ppl don’t want to stop behavior but can’t change belief when it’s constantly reinforced in their community. So they need an excuse for not stopping that ISN’T “Porn is great, actually”
