I know this makes me a bit weird but the thing that really bothers me is how reactionaries don't know anything about history and don't care to learn.

Establishment Democrats spent a full year complaining the Left forced them to be “woke.”
But then a left populist, Graham Platner, threatened to win in Maine, so they went right back to trying to cancel someone over old internet posts.

NEW: I reviewed a text chain provided by an acquaintance of Graham Platner where the person discussed with others Platner’s Nazi-like tattoo months before the story became public, undercutting claims Platner only recently learned of it.

Graham Platner’s claims that he didn’t know tattoo was Nazi-linked undercut by new evidence | CNN Politics
A KFile investigation has uncovered mounting evidence that Platner — a Marine veteran— was aware of and defended the use of Nazi symbolism that had come to be embraced by some members of the military.

Emissions this century commit us to centuries of sea-level rise
Under current policies, CO2 until 2050 locks in +0.3 m GMSL by 2300; until 2090, +0.8 m
~0.6 m could still be avoided with deep mitigation
Near-term mitigation choices shape millennia

Multi-century global and regional sea-level rise commitments from cumulative greenhouse gas emissions in the coming decades - Nature Climate Change
It is important to understand how much long-term sea-level rise is already committed due to historical and near-term emissions. Here the authors use a modelling framework to show how decisions on glob...

A thing I sincerely believe is that corporations would rather use AI rather than human employees *even if it costs more* because they consider people-management annoying and unpredictable. Employees do things like try to unionize or sue you for sexual harassment, and upper management resents that.

On Threads, the usual suspects are telling ppl about to lose SNAP benefits to just start a garden. As a gardener, I had to laugh. You need at LEAST an acre of land to feed a family of 4. Start-up costs are enormous. But yes, subsistence farming on the balcony of your rental apartment is the answer
