Imagine rolling out a new line of cereal where boxes may randomly contain arsenic, razor bits, glass shards in them and the manufacturer wants the consumer to look before they eat. My most insufferable trait as someone from an African country is to perform flamboyant shock at how much you have to pay in cities like NY and London and not even a whole garden to kick a ball in!
The mansion tax has been absolutely terrible for my productivity, in that I have fallen back hard into “looking at high end property”. Hate what they’ve done with the interior here!

Incidentally I think that one of the issues with Rowling’s portrayal of the Wizarding World is that she’d like to do Tolkien level world building but she has approximately the same world building skills as CS Lewis (“I’m going to take these cool things and that dream, put them together, and stir!”)

my dissertation was about the history of Catholic converts in the US and every day something makes me remember how often I was told it was too niche
My dissertation turns 10 next month and I've been dipping in to see if there's anything in there worth pulling out and working with, and each chapter is effectively about a different emotional struggle that would be familiar today.
