"Generative AI platforms center the idea that one has written, or created, by interacting with a structure they did not build and do not understand" - this I think is key -- less about interpassivity & 100% about the master/slave dialectic: the point is not to create but to be a master.

When power went out across all of Puerto Rico on 16 April, a lot of the lights in the town of Adjuntas stayed on. A combination of experimental microgrids, solar panels, and storage kept power on for many businesses and residents.

The US has a very difficult time even talking about why racism is bad.

So when we see a nazi banker, we think that the problem is "bank" not "nazi."

So we have a reflexive hatred of all venture capital. But... the National Science Foundation is essentially a venture capital fund?
I've said on here multiple times (and even on Mastodon!) that I don't believe that VC is inherently evil. The key word in "nazi bank" is "nazi," not "bank."

NSF is basically a VC.

We've never seen a VC industry that wasn't primarily driven by Ayn Rand reading alt-right bros.

No one came for me. 🤷🏿‍♂️

I don't think that VC is necessarily bad. I think most of the problem is who gets to be a VC, and what they prioritize. The National Science Foundation is effectively a VC firm. A crypto DAO is a co-...

During his early political career, she was invaluable in his success and political rise.

Is he emperor of the hemisphere? Declaring another nation’s airspace “closed” without their consent is an illegal act of aggression. If he wanted to actually close Venezuelan airspace by force, that’s a “no-fly zone,” & it requires: UN Security Council authorization (good luck)

Or an act of war

Everyone with a platform — even a microscopic one like mine — should use their megaphone to promote other people’s great work. Particularly the work that’s not already big or popular or successful.

Always promote great work when you see it.
Sometimes I see a very famous person plug a book or movie or other creative project that they're not involved in or benefiting from and I am SHOCKED in a good way. More of that would be... good. Bizarre how rare it is.
