Yeah, IIRC, in order to get the highest safety rating in Europe, cars will have to use tactile mechanisms, not touchscreens.

It feels like the political overton window has shifted far to the Right because the wealth class controls our media and owns our politicians.

Meanwhile, the vast, vast majority of people belong to what would now be portrayed as “the extreme Left.”

It’s a perception game and narrative control.

Not that anybody comes to me for Maine politics, but the fact that the Democrats successfully convinced a 77yo Governor to primary the 41yo progressive, is today's example of why the Democrats fucking stay failing.

Susan Collins is 72 and if Schumer gets his way, she'll be the YOUNGER choice!

people who have absolutely no idea, not the first clue, about how debilitating the brain fog is. And saying “oh, it’s okay, you can get SSDI” was *insulting* before, now during Trump II it’s straight up sadistic

I don't think I've ever received a single communication from the DNC that isn't a solicitation.

Nothing about what their positions are, what their agenda is, their accomplishments... Anything to make me want to give them money.

I guess when you don't have results to talk about...

Y'all, Eighth Generation has 20% off right now for Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Everything they sell is designed by Native artists. If you're in the market for something beautiful, today's a great day to check them out.

My hot take is that none of these are structure. These are all recipes that describe structure.

Structure is the Salt, Fat, Acid Heat of writing.

3-Act/Hero's Journey etc are recipes.

You can make great meals without using a recipe if you understand the principles of structure.
ddwardiswriting.bsky.social
So #WritingCommunity how do we feel about structure?

Do you use the 3 act structure? The 5 act?

Hero's Journey? Save the Cat? Super Structure Method? Story Genius Method?

Something else?

What have you got?

All of this, yes.

I would also like to see a poll of how many New Yorkers have positive feelings toward NYPD.

Because electing someone who makes cops "worry" is a feature, not a bug, for quite a few of us now.

Everyone knows that spell checking is woke. Bari Weiss has her eyes trained on true journalistic excellence and doesn't have time for piddling things like spelling peoples' names correctly.

It’s impossible to overstate how much “abolish ice” is the normie position now here in chicago — just countless random moms at toddler soccer on a park district field asking me where I bought my anti-ice t-shirt. average people don’t like our neighborhoods being terrorized.

A friend ran the Chicago marathon today and said he couldn’t count the number of FUCK ICE signs along the way.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

Thank you. You're very kind and I really appreciate the insight.

I think what I've done probably sacrifices art in the name of realism ... which means I need to go buy more yellow beads. 🤣🫣

Somehow I *always* need to buy more beads. 🫠😂

Most of these people are deeply trained, or at least highly educated, in humanities. Knowing isn’t being.

Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.

Some people might laugh but there's something actually important in this as I have heard others talk about how a fear of dying is palpable among fascists. They carry hell with them in real life.

Interesting! Is it just the row bordering the green or both that and the next shade in?

Daffodils do come in all sorts of shades, so I can take it brighter ... I'm just not a fan of yellow, so I think I gravitate to the paler shades.

You're probably right that higher contrast would be prettier!
absurdities.bsky.social
Definitely! That's a great point and probably part of why I don't like it as much. 🤣

I do want to center the flower. The friend I'm making it for loves daffodils (he took that photo) and I'll have more green elsewhere in the piece.

Basically, I'm doing a version of this, but daffodil-esque.
A hexagonal piece of beadwork with a "flower" type design. The flower petals are shades of pink and purple with white accents. Green sections around the outside imply leaves.
