Seeing people nonchalantly post stuff like makes me feel like I'm going crazy honestly.
A post from an academic on blue sky that says: "I'm learning about "prompt engineering" when asking LLMs to extract data. I now add this to all instructions:

Prediction: Infantino is suddenly going to have a lot more to say about "football as a peacebuilding initiative in Gaza" than he had to say in the last two years. He must be absolutely salivating over the reconstruction plans.

Reports that FIFA President Gianni Infantino has arrived in Sharm el Sheikh for the Middle East peace summit. Unclear why he would be required or what his role is.

One the one hand - thanks? On the other hand, seeing Brits do mental arithmetic on 'desirables vs undesirables' doesn't feel right. It seems like we're in the 'desirables' bucket simply because they think HKers are productive and not because they are actually deserving of some dignity as *people*

“If Britain has no space for a group like the Hongkongers, then our national panic over immigration will surely have gone too far. This country needs some immigration, and if it is not the productive & educated exiles from Hong Kong, to whom we also have a moral duty, then who will we let in?”

Wow, wow, wow. This has always been legally possible but the law has virtually never been enforced — and now this is the SECOND case I've heard of in the last month (first involving a person with a green card) of a noncitizen being charged for failure to carry their papers.

We should have ended it all when he started openly monetizing the presidency at his DC hotel & sending his kids to represent the 🇺🇸 government at official international events. But he is One Special Boy and we appear to no longer be a serious country interested in the rule of law or the Constitution.

Trump's conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is caught on a hot mic. Hard to tell exactly what they are talking about, but Subianto asks Trump about meeting Eric Trump and Don Jr, who supposedly have nothing to do with government while they run the family business.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker says ICE and DHS are repeatedly lying about their arrests in Chicagoland:

"They lie every time it seems like, so we can't believe it when they say it. We have to do our own investigations. That's why it's so vital that people are pulling out their phones and filming."

Yeah, this is sadly very naive. They've already done it to trans rights (which let them undermine basic principles of bodily autonomy) and made strides on anti-abortion rights - their "free speech protesters" outside abortion clinics regularly get to launder their views via the TV and print media
tom--scott.bsky.social
Right-wingers who think tactics they've used to criminalize abortion in the US will have the same kind of traction in the UK fail to grasp that religious fundamentalism is widely viewed as nuts in the UK, & has been for many decades, if not centuries.

As much chance of abolishing UK gun controls.

The right-wing campaign group that helped topple Roe v Wade in the US is now working to roll back abortion laws in the UK, with the help of Nigel Farage.

Its first step? Trying to create a debate around "free speech"

Disinformation, far-right panic, headline errors: the New CBS
hunterw.bsky.social
The typo is the embarrassing cherry on top of all this. It speaks to the lack of expertise and effort everyone is bringing to the table here. It's that much funnier since this is almost certainly a piece the new EIC was involved in and there's a typo in the headline.

yeah man, trans reporters, whom the ny times derogatorily calls "trans activists" so that normies won't listen to them, have been reporting on ADF activity in the UK since 2018.

bigotry in journalism makes you late to the story.
