It's not a personal failing to grow up in a place that is racially homogenous! But if you don't have personal contact with a community and you are drawing members into the backgrounds of your sample pages...doing a sloppy job when stock photos and Instagram and TikTok are RIgHT! THERE! is a choice.

The second it came out that he joined Blackwater in 2018 should have been the end of his “progressive” run. We all knew who they were by then even if theocrat/war criminal/old GOP insider Erik Prince has gone on to make even more attacks on justice & democracy since:

Seriously, a subway and trains that go to more areas would be 100000x more useful here than this.
We’d love a better subway.
LA is building a new $1.5 billion freeway into LAX.

The very same airport where we just spent $2 billion on the people mover — actually, more like $3 billion, plus another $900 million if you count Metro's investment in the LAX station; so let's just say $4 billion — to make cars go away
Went to Spain for a convention in Granada, found an LA friend represented! Look @jodyhouser.bsky.social you are una estrella!

i like that we know the ICE fitness standards now because now we all know exactly how fast we need to be able to run to be just slightly faster than any given ICE agent. a useable training goal

Yes, impact matters over intent, but for that to apply the person has to first have DONE something besides...be who they are.

If your reaction to a Muslim dude from Uganda is automatically "this man is unsafe," that's a YOU problem. You're doing that to YOURSELF.
I'm sick of hearing about how Mamdani is unsafe because of how he made you feel when he's DONE nothing. If you're feeling unsafe because of free public transit or affordable housing, you're a bad person. And if you feel unsafe because of someone else's religion or culture or the way they eat rice,
Three planes, one delicious lunch, and an even more delicious shower, I can now nap until 9:30 when it'll be time to get dressed for dinner.
Goodbye USA, seeya soon Madrid & Granada!

For values of soon that are more like 10 hours and 16 hours away, but I am on the damn plane so SOON!

the Platner discourse has frustrating echoes of the Newsom discourse, in that people seem to want us to just give up now and lock in without waiting to see if something better turns up. this isn't blackjack! we can keep asking the dealer to turn over more cards for like another YEAR
Anyone telling you this spells doom in Maine is being silly.

It is now 230 days until the primary and 377 days until the general.

And it’s not like the campaign has already been going for a long time. Platner just announced 293 days before the primary and 440 days before the general election.

I'm a cis woman and progesterone saved my life. I am exceedingly fortunate that when I needed it I could obtain it and have it covered by my ACA insurance. it's not like I NEEDED to personally experience it in order to support trans healthcare, but it made me very grateful my state didn't police it
I have some bad news for all you cis women voting and working to ban HRT. You are going to NEED that shit when you hit peri/menopause. All of our struggles for bodily autonomy against a fascist cisheteropatriarchy are connected.
It is a good excuse for warming your hands on a mug full of favorite fall beverages.
Airport working just got applause for making the high pitched ringing tone stop after seven minutes of hell. Go airport worker, I wish you were getting paid!

Academically I can see why people are bothered by the demolition of the east wing of the White House but ultimately it's a Presidential Palace built by slave labor that has ossified - it *should* be a living building, we should be Ship of Theseusing that shit.

I find the honesty refreshing.
It really sucks to realize that Bernie Sanders would have made a terrible president, because despite having a lot of integrity himself, he is an abysmal judge of character. Just fuckup after fuckup with the candidates who only get traction from his endorsement. His appointees would have been awful.

I woke up laughing about this because like, SIR.
Like, aside from the obvious moral concerns, I’d argue that a man who really thought no one would find out or care about him having a Nazi tattoo on his goddamned tiddy isn’t smart enough to be a US senator. Maybe run for the PTA or something. IDK. But a peer of Elizabeth Warren you are NOT.

The story of La Befana, for those of you who don’t know it, goes like this:

La Befana was a little old lady who lived alone. Before she went to bed every evening, she would sweep the walkway to her house all the way down the walkway and then all the way up the walkway.
If you absolutely must have a supernatural Christmas gift-giving entity in your household mythos, please consider La Befana as a generally more kickass alternative to Santa.
Airport time! I decided that compression socks are great a couple years ago. But this is the first time I committed to buying fun patterns. Stripes are cool! And my blue dress with giant white flowers hardly clashes at all.

[That is a lie, there's a reason I did not show those photos.]

A foundational tenet of horror, too, is that you cannot ever depend on the authorities to have your back. Think about all of the horror movies that you have seen where the police are completely ineffective.

Horror movies remind us that at the end of the day, we save ourselves.
