my cousin "only" got $400k for her house which is a bummer until you remember she owned it outright because she bought it from her parents in 2017 for $185k and they bought it in like 1956 for like a fistful of dimes and an onion

she won't go to bed before midnight because she's literally delirious because you "give up" on "offering" her nap at noon because she's "not tired" then let her fall asleep AT A RESTAURANT at FOUR and then cap her nap even tho she cries because she thought it was bedtime. she's hallucinating

tried to explain to this mom who was asking why her kid wouldn't sleep that based on the nap schedule she posted her kid is ludicrously sleep deprived and suggested earlier nap and she said "i think we must have very different kids!" yep the difference is mine aren't ludicrously sleep deprived

i've already got my geraniums inside under lights! hoping to keep from either over OR under watering them this winter and keep them alive. it's just too expensive to heat the greenhouse, going with electric heated mats this spring

The attack on Portland was supposed to make the place look like a lawless hellhole. Instead, the authorities have succeeded in making it look like the most fun city in the world.

I am so proud of Portland right now. I keep saying we are having a renaissance & you can really see it in so many ways.

We just hosted folks from around the country at an energy conference & they were blown away by the political culture that is growing here.

We have a chance at something great.

The US federal attack on Portland has resulted in the best advertisement for a city that I have ever seen. Round-the-clock joy, community solidarity and silliness that much of the West has lost and longs for.

we offered to bring her folks back too but i think the thing that was actually most annoying to them was how much their teenager was whining about the power being out, i think without her home it was probably just a very peaceful if chilly little vacation for them as well

when i was about 16 there was a huge snowstorm and my best friend was stuck at home at her folks place with no power or heat or water on the far side of our valley and my dad drove hours at 15mph to pick her up and bring her to our house for christmas which was very funny to her because she's jewish
